New Generations Software to Build Website?

Legg inn av Texas Gen » 15 nov 2007 04:43:05

Do any of you use New Generations genealogy website-building software?

Would love to hear your experiences with this. I am trying to use it with
steep learning curve. I use Simply Hosting which provides good support.

Also---- I can easily create a website with Legacy------but then how do I
edit it? Or what program can I use to edit and organize the website?

I really need to get my website up soon, or I know I never will!

Warmest Regards,

Donna

If you mean The Next Generation (TNG), there is really no
website to build - like phpGedView, it works from a gedcom
and provides dynamic views of the information. More to the
point, there are links to hosting services on its (TNG's)
web-page. I'd suggest you also look into phpGedView and
it's list of hosting services.

<hand-waving>
Creating a web site with apps like Legacy or TNG or any of
the other windows-based applications usually results in a
large number of inter-linked pages that you then have to
upload to a server somewhere, e.g., the freepages at RootsWeb.
You manage changes on your home machine, re-generate either
the changed pages or the entire "inventory" and upload them
as/when necessary.

I've used TNG for some years now and absolutely love it. Rich in
features and great support (forums and mailing list)... For $29, I don't
think you can beat it.
