Parents of Stephen/Etienne de Gevaudan?

I've just discovered some discrepancies regarding the parentage of
Stephen/Etienne de Gevaudan, the husband of Adelais d'Anjou (the serial
bride, as she has been called). I note that Leo van de Pas doesn't show
any parents; a posting from Jean Bunot in the gen-med archives gives
Bertrand de Gevaudan and Emilgarde de Brioude; while the Roglo database
shows Ermengaud de Rouergue and Adelaide N. as his parents.

Most of the archived discussions mentioning Stephen/Etienne tend to
focus on the career of his much-married wife, so can anyone say what
the current reconstruction for his parentage might be?

I would have to do some digging to address the first version, but the
suggestion that he was son of Ermengaud of Rouergue seems highly
suspect. Among other things, this would seem to place Adelais's
marriage to Raymond of Toulouse within prohibited degrees of affinity.

I've received some very helpful information regarding my question, and
it seems the information from Jean Bunot is probably the correct version.

I think there is confusion between Étienne I & II:

1-ERMENGALD I, Comte de Rouergue b. Abt 870, Villefranche-de-Rouergue,
Aveyron, Midi-Pyrennes, France, d. 937, m. ADÉLAÏDE de (Rouergue) b.
Abt 870, France

2-ÉTIENNE I, Comte de Gévaudan b. Abt 895, Gévaudan, Alpes-de-Haute-
Provence, Provence, d. 967, m. ANNE de (Gévaudan) b. Abt 900, France

3-BERTRAND I, Comte de Gévaudan b. Abt 920, Gévaudan, Alpes-de-
Haute-Provence, Provence, d. 993, m. EMILDIS de (Gévaudan) b. Abt 930,
France

4-ÉTIENNE II de Brioude b. Abt 940, Brioude, Haute-Loire,
Auvergne, d. 979, Gévaudan, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Provence, m.
ADÉLAÏDE Blanca d' Anjou b. Abt 947, m. Abt 979, 1st husband, d. 1026.
