I'm curious what part of Ebay is "Way too much trouble"? Right now
there is one used one at $1 with $3 shipping that ends in 19 hours-
and 2 'buy it now's for less than $20 including shipping. [several
more in Ebay stores- but the first couple didn't have high enough
feedback scores for my taste]

The 'buy it now' auctions are by a business that many of the feedbacks
include 'fast shipping' in their comments.

Are you just fishing for a free/stolen copy- or are you serious that
ebay is too much trouble, but you'd buy the software from someone on a
newsgroup without any of the safety nets provided by ebay? [feedback,
anonymity, insurance, mediation]

Hello Shirley,

Got any Half Price Book Stores in your area. I got FTM2006 for $20.00 US plus tax.

Some of us just don't eBay. I've seen too many complaints from people who
feel ripped off by their experiences. Besides, I see no reason to have
to register and give financial information to them.

It's not that I haven't seen stuff on eBay that I would have wanted. One
of the best examples is a vinyl record album that I've been looking for
for over forty years. I'd love to have it, but not if I have to eBay
for it.

http://www.familysearch.org is the URL you need but it's a very clumpy non
user friendly program IMO.

I prefer Legacy which is also a freebie but you can buy an upgrade if
you wish. It's very much more user friendly http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/

That is kind of like saying 'I won't go to Walmart because I don't

like the way they treat their employees'. It is YOUR choice but
Walmart, and EBAY, can save you tons of money and time. Sure you have
to be careful on what and from whom you buy on EBAY. But the local
grocery store may be selling tainted spinach and you still go there.
Don't let someone elses bad experience with EBAY stop you from
enjoying the idea of 'garage sales'. Sure you can get ripped off, sure
you have to provide some sort of payment plan, but if you are carefull
and only buy from people that are rated 98% or higher and use PayPal
for all your payments, you are just as safe as buying anywhere else
on-line.

Well I know your reasons, doesn't mean I agree with them, but they are
yours to make. I personally think the benefits far outweigh the
downsides, but that is my opinion. Oh, and NO I am not a seller, just
a buyer on EBAY.

Thanks every one for your help. I found 2005. Have been at the genealogy
business for over 30 years and 2005 works just fine for me. I tried to
order it from eBay but you have to jump through too many hoops for my taste.
Could have purchased a new program but I wanted 2005.
