Descendants of Clarence Edwin Lied and Agnes Mathea Farmer
I am searching descendants of Clarence Edwin Lied, born 13th. June 1907 probably somewhere in Illinois and Agnes Mathea Farmer. She was born Oct. 21st. 1909 in Lakefield, MN. They were married Nov. 3rd. 1928, and she died 8th of April 1978. Clarence Edwin Lied died 30th. of Aug 1980.
There might be both living and nonliving persones, as I have learned that they had three children.
I know there are persons in the US who are active in this forum, and maybe some of you can help me. For information about living persons, send me a private mail through the mail system of this forum.
If you, Margit Nysetvold Bakke reads this, I have sent you a private mail that you can read in your mailbox.

Re: Descendants of Clarence Edwin Lied and Agnes Mathea Farm
Probably the best to do is to try to get Clarence's obit.
It might also be another possibility:
I guess you have this:
Social Security Death Index
Name: Clarence Lied
SSN: 483-28-2738
Last Residence: 66212 Shawnee Mission, Johnson, Kansas, United States of America
Born: 13 Jun 1907
Last Benefit: 66204 Shawnee Mission, Johnson, Kansas, United States of America
Died: Aug 1980
State (Year) SSN issued: Iowa (Before 1951 )
The last known address was Shawnee Mission, Johnson, Kansas:USsearch shows one Lied at that address:
Sarah Lied
- Shawnee Mission KS Advanced Locator
Instant Criminal Search
Background Check
It seems to be an old record; she's not listed at that address now.
Of course it might also be a wrong track.
However; there are/was also a Sarah Lied in Montana. If we asssume Clarence got at least one son; he probably was born within about 20 years after 1930 (not listed at US Census 1930)
If we narrow our search criteria to the states Kansas and Montana there's only som few Lied with a proper age.
I have done some few look-ups and I'll send you an private e-mail.

Re: Descendants of Clarence Edwin Lied and Agnes Mathea Farm
Hi all,
I have contacted people with the Lied surname and have come up empty as they are not of Norwegian ancestry, nor are they related.
I have no idea where to look, as Lied is a hard surname to search on.
Do you have any more information? What is the source of the information you do have?

Hei Tor!
I have helped others in Norway with this obituary problem before. Usually if you contact the Library in the town they died in, tell them you live in Norway, are related to the deceased, they will scan and email you the obituary.

The Johnson County Library provides copies of obituaries at no charge. Please allow one week for processing.
Give all the information from the SSDI including death date.
Or you can order Clarence's application for Social Security number, which will cost you $27 I believe. It should list the following:
The Social Security Administration has a microfilmed copy of every individual's original Social Security application (known as the SS-5), as well as claims files. These documents contain additional information not available in the SSDI such as birth place, maiden name, and parents’ names. (Porter 1999)
More specifically, The application form (SS-5) contains the following information:
* Full name
* Full name at birth (including maiden name)
* Present mailing address
* Age at last birthday
* Date of birth
* Place of birth (city, county, state)
* Father's full name "regardless of whether living or dead"
* Mother's full name, including maiden name, "regardless of whether living or dead"
* Sex and race
* Ever applied for SS number/Railroad Retirement before? Yes/No
* Current employer's name and address
* Date signed
* Applicant's signature
How can I get a copy of the original records?
The Social Security Administration makes copies of the original Social Security application form (the SS-5) available to third parties who request information on a deceased individual.
A standard letter to the Social Security Administration is available with the search results on the Ancestry Social Security Death Index. To generate the letter simply click on the "write letter" link available with all search results in Ancestry's SSDI. This letter may be printed and mailed to the Social Security Administration to request a copy of your ancestor's SS-5 form. The Social Security Administration charges $27.00 for each individual copy ($16 for an abbreviated NUMIDENT form as opposed to the SS-5 itself).

Re: Descendants of Clarence Edwin Lied and Agnes Mathea Farm
Thank you for doing all this for me.
You ask me where I got the information about three children.
I found that in an old letter that was found in the belongings of my cousin in North Dakota when she died years ago. The letter from Agnes Lied was written in 1977 and mention three children; two boys and a girl - who is the oldest. It does not give any names or dates.

Margit - you are just great! - Thank you!!!!
You have been, and are a helping hand - not just for me, but also for all the other persons in Norway that you have assisted through this forum.
The obituary gives me names and places that are important for me, and the newspaper article that you sent me private today contains lots of information, and it was very interesting.
