Excuse my lack of Norwegian, but I am looking for descendants or relations of Jens Madsen (b.1842) of Grimstad. Also descendants of Ragnar Madsen (b.1910). Hope to hear from someone. =)

Seach for Madsen in Grimstad in the 1881 ABCsøk phone directory. You will find a Ole Martin Madsen.
Try to call him, or write to him. Perhaps he might help you?

This may be a solution, but isn't "Madsen" to common as surname to believe that you will find the right line after 160 years....?

Thank-you for the reply. I have thought about trying to call someone in Grimstad, but was unsure as to how I would communicate with them. I speak almost zero Norwegian.

I have traced my family pretty far back, but I am interested in finding relatives that might still live in Norway. Ragnar, who died in 1961 is the last link in chain that I was able to find.

Wouldn't it be weird to just start calling people?

DIS-Norge has collected names from graves. In a list from Grimstad you will find Ragnar Madsen - born 1/2/1910, died 15/4/1961.
