Beginner question

Legg inn av Keith nuttle » 14 mar 2007 22:57:04

I have been working on my family for sometime but never requested
records. I have founds some records that I would like to see but would
like to have a better idea of what information would be in them.

A couple of ancestors have recorded baptisms and marriages (between 1830
and 1880) in some of the churches in Berks county Pennsylvania. If
requested would these records only give the names of the bride and groom
or would there be some information on the family?

There is a will that I would be interested in reading. It was probated
in 1855 in Berks county Pennsylvania. Was there a standard for what
information would appear in the will?

Baptisms often include the name of the parents - unless your
ancestor was baptised as an adult

Beyond a witness or two, not really. One of my ancestors' had a
will that made a bequest to his daughter, and to his grandson. In
just that language. He had three daughters. We don't have death
dates on any of them.

But typically, it would mention whoever was getting a bequest;
relatives, friends, business associates. Wills are worth acquiring.
