Location of Torvikbygd?

Legg inn av BobAug » 06 jan 2007 00:52:18

I'm having a touch time verifying the location of my grandfather's ancestral
home in Norway. I know that it's named Torvikbygd and is somewhere along
the Hardangarfiord, but can't find it on any maps over the internet.

If anyone has info, I'd sure appreciate it.

By the way, this is NOT the Torvikbygd located in the north of Norway.

Thanks!

Bob

I looked at the Global Gazzetteer, at http://www.fallingrain.com/world/
and found the one way north, but as you say, not one along that fjord.
In what context is this name given? Farm name, parish, something else?

I don't see a farm by that name either, either in O. Rygh's farmnames
project or the censuses. Any chance of any closer location where it
might be?
