FTM pictures

Hi All,

I have been complaining for months that FTM does not hold the scrapbook
pictures in a file and format that I can access and copy from to make a CD
of everyone's Scrapbook page. Some people have up to 100 photos in
chronological order and make a great slideshow, the only problem was that I
could not get it from computer to CD to show via a DVD.

To make a combined slideshow of everyone's scrapbook (about 3000 photos) for
a recent family function I purchased Adobe Acrobat version 7 and made a very
good show from the FTM program but could only show it on the computer which
was OK. But today I have opened the scrapbook in FTM and clicked on
Scrapbook Print Preview under File and exported it to the desktop in a PDF
format as is the format in FTM. I then opened my Adobe Acrobat program and
opened the saved file and converted it to a Jpeg format, then I could save
it to a CD using my Picture to TV software with beautiful background music
as well. It is very good and if you have the font for the captions set at
about 20 you can read the captions very easily on the TV. I now can paste
the pictures in my other family history programs with ease.

It has probably all been done before but thought someone might get a bit of
help from the idea. I have had a lot of help from the clever people on this
newsgroup so thought I would submit a tip from an old grandmother.

Don't take this the wrong way, but in computer terminology, that's
called a kludge (pronounced klooj): Wiki says

A kludge (or kluge) is a clumsy or inelegant solution to a problem. In
engineering, a kludge is a workaround using unrelated parts cobbled
together. People demonstrating the force of the term often say that it
takes a skilled craftsman intimate with the task, the material at hand,
and the operating environment to construct a workaround clunky enough to
be called a kludge.

I like the last bit :-)

Well done, thanks for sharing...

Hi Paul,

Well if you think that is complicated try making a few of these contraptions
my grandson is trying to make here today out of Lego. The ideas are good
but the old fashioned pieces I have are not fitting where they should. Not
even a remarkable slideshow (well that is what I tell him I have created) of
himself since he was a baby with wonderful captions via FTM, via PDF back to
JPEG {as they were in the first place} and burnt on to CD and then via the
DVD with glorious background music will get his mind off me looking for the
bits and it is too bloody hot to send him outside.

Thanks for the comment, I get the drift of what you mean but never heard of
that word before. If the files were in JPEG format my life would be easy, no
doubt I will be asking for more help in the future.

Cheers

If it can't be fixed with fencing wire, it's not worth fixing.
