My Christmas (software) wishlist
This list applies to everyone, altho some bits are already available in
some apps:
- Treeview charts for ancestors and descendants....simple line diagrams,
like the tree that you get for the contents of your hard drive
- basic details on front screens (b, m ,d ,bur) for family members
- some attention to editing techniques...there are some most inefficient
systems out there
- proper SQL features (FTM has the worst query system known to man...)
- and FTM need to learn the alphabet (Index of Individuals when in Use
Married Name mode is ill-sorted)
- simple connection charts to show how Bill relates to Mary or whoever
- On This Day (or week or month) lists to save ooops when you forget
something
- Trace facility - to be able to set some conditions (ie born on a
Monday) and have the db check all or part of your data
- Count names used, length of marriages (and number!), number of kids
and prepare a ranking table
- better adherence to GEDCOM "standards"...so many do not!
Then I will spend my hard-earned....

Paul, in case you're not yet acquainted with the problem,
this appears to be the case of somebody (Garry) who used

to educate Google-ites to include context.

Re: My Christmas (software) wishlist
My wish:
I would like a program which given a time and place would provide
a list from my GEDCOM file of all the persons who are in this place
at this time period.
Reason: Any records I use are specific to a time and place. It would
be very helpful to have a list of people I should check for in these
records.
