Hi.

From the churchbooks from Rolvsøy, Fredrikstad, we recently found out
who my great-grandfather is, but not much more.

In the book it says that his name was Ivar Ringström. The last name
could come both from Norway and Sweden. It says that he was a "free
worker" (friarbeider). The birth year says 1887, but there is a slight
chance that this might not be correct, since it for my
great-grandmother says 1886 though she was born in 1876.

I would assume that Ivar comes from either the south-eastern parts of
Norway, or the south-western parts of Sweden. Through searches, I have
found families in both Norway (Ringstrøm) and Sweden (Ringström), and
there were many men coming from the border areas of Sweden to Norway
looking for work.

Ivar must have been in Norway in 1912, since my grandmother was born
in March 1913. He was not the father of any of her siblings (except
her twin sister...:-), so I am not sure how long he was in
Rolvsøy...and no one in the family were willing to talk about these
issues (they are now deceased).

I have not found any information about Ivar, so if anyone has any
information to me about him, it would be appreciated.

The only one registered in the Swedish 1890 Census is Ivar Gustav Ferdinand
Ringström born 1864 in Filipstad, Värmland, Sweden. He is probably working
for his father as a pharmacist. It does not sound like he is the guy you are
earching for.
