Takk, Donna Olsen Cooper

Hi Donna! Have had a look at all the usual Internet databases and the only thing I've come up with is the emigration of Sophie and her two children.
They emigrated from Oslo (or Kristiania as it was called then) in 1887, 25th June on the ship Kong Ring of the Kopperud line. Her name is listed as Sofie Ols. married, aged 31, born Fredrikstad; the children Sigvard Ols. aged 5 years 10 months and Marie aged 2 years 10 months. Their destination is given as Chicago. I'm usually at the LDS Family History Centre here in Moss (a neighbouring town to Fredrikstad) on Thursdays, so will have a look at church records from Fredrikstad then and see if I can find anything more. I checked the ship on the Norway Heritage database and it seems to have sailed between Oslo, Norway and Hamburg, Germany. She paid 70 Norwegian crowns fare for herself and the two children. So presumeably they sailed on another ship from Hamburg. At that period they sometimes used the woman's maiden name even if she was married, and sometimes her husband's surname, so Olsen could possibly be her maiden name. The names Hussing and Hunning are not Norwegian surnames (or if so very unusual ones) but there is a name Henning - could that be it, do you think? Can't even find a farm name similar to Hunning/Hussing. Will let you know if I manage to find the family in the church records. Best wishes from cold, snowy Norway.

Hi Donna! Tried births in Fredrikstad first but no luck. Then tried Vestre
(West) Fredrikstad (the parishes were divided in the 1870s) and found
Sigvard's baptism but not his sister's.
The details are as follows:
Vestre Fredrikstad, Østfold County, parish record, baptisms 1881
Born 17th August , baptized 9th October.
OLE SIGVARD
Parents: Styrmand (ship's mate) Ole Anton Olsen b. 1855 + Sofie Alette
Syversdatter b. 1856.
Residing at Apenesbjerg.
Witnesses/godparents:
Carpenter Ole Olsen
Workman .....Olsen
Carpenter Syver Jensen
The child's mother
Marie Olivie Olsen
(Born in wedlock)

Then I found Sophie's birth in Glemmen parish (part of the present-day town
of Fredrikstad). Born 11 jan 1856 at Nygaardsgrund, Glemmen, baptized 24 Feb
1856, Glemmen. Parents: Syver Jensen + Thea Simondsdatter.
Microfilm 0255772.
Syver + Thea were married 22nd August 1851 at Glenmmen, he was then aged 22
and Thea 23. Microfilm 0125880.
The couple also had the following children all born at Nygaardsgrund (an
area in Glemmen) and baptized in Glemmen (called Glemminge in the old days).
Jørgen Severin Syversen (M) b. 15th May 1852 chr. 25th July
Johan Theodor Syversen (M) b.1.Feb. 1854, chr. 26. Feb.
then Sophie (F)as above
Thomine Severine Syversdatter (F) b. 9. Aug 1858, chr. 10th Oct.
Thorvald M. (M) born about 1864 (haven't found his birth yet)
The following is a link to the family in the 1865 census where the father's
occupation is given as Ship's carpenter.
<digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f60132&gardpostnr=226&personpostnr=1588&merk=1588#ovre>
So Syver was born around 1828-9 in Glemmen, and Thea around 1827-8 in
Glemmen.
Best wishes, Margaret

Ole Anthon is posing more of a problem. Should have found his marriage first, where do you have the information from that he was born in Eidsberg?
There is one Ole A. Olsen on the farm Berg Søndre in Eidsberg in 1865 which could be him. This child, OLE ANTHON, was born 11th August 1855 and baptized in the neighbouring parish of Rakkestad 9th Sept 1855, parents farmer Ole Olsen + Maria Andersdatter. But have no proof that this is the correct person. This is the link to the census: <digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f60125&gardpostnr=914&merk=914#ovre> . There is an Ole Olsen present at Ole Sigvard's baptism, but this one is listed as a carpenter, not a farmer.
Your Hunning/Hussing (if it was handwritten) couldn't be Glemminge, the old form of Glemmen parish in Fredrikstad?

Syver Jensen var born Nov 18th 1828 in Glemmen, His parents were Jens Jacobsen Hassing b 1781 and Sigrid Syversdtr. abt 1786 d 1849.
Thea Simensdtr was born Aug 26th 1828 also in Glemmen. Her parents were: Simen Trulsen b abt 1799 and Kirsten Jensdtr Glemmen b 1802 in Glemmen. Her family I have quite a bit further back.

Jens Jacobsen was the son of Jakob Hassing, who died at Bjølstad in 1789 and was the local teacher.
