Hello all,

I was looking at the Husförhörslängd for Gamleby, Kalmar Lan for 1866-1879
and I found over my great great grandfather's name the abbreviations "Eg.
Br." Does anyone have any idea what this stands for? TIA for any info.

Eg. could be Egare = Ägare (contemporary) = Owner
Br. could be Brukare = Farmed himself

Could you give me the page number so I could look at the context?

Kurt,

I found this information on pg. 207 of the Husförhörslängd for Gamleby,
Kalmar Lan. The LDS ufilm no. was 0438139. The timeframe was 1866-1870
(vice 1866-1879 as I stated in the original post). Thanks for your help.

Kurt,

I forgot to mention that my great great grandfather's name is Erik Jacob
Nilsson b. 16 Sep 1810 in Gamleby, Kalmar Lan. Thanks again.

I´m convinced that my initial interpretation is correct.
If you look at the next entry further down on the page, you find the
abbreviations "Eg. o Br.", where the "o" stand for och = and.
He owned and farmed the land himself.
