Can anyone suggest a country of origin of

Surname ---------- Luden

"Fredrick Luden"

London 1830's

I usually check the surname out at the LDS site:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... search.asp
and use Exact Spelling. That name is all over the place in northern
Europe so I doubt that you'll find a good answer. The closest I can come
to a meaning that might have wound up as a surname is a Scandanavian
word meaning hairy. Modern German doesn't appear to use the word, but
things being what they are, it may also be an archaic German word. I
don't think this will be a fruitful path for you.

I didn't finish my thought there and the above is addressing mainly
surname origin. So far as the person "Fredrick Luden", why not right
there in England/British Isles. If not, then chances seem more or less
equal for Germany, France, Netherland, Finland, ...

I put a dime on Germany. Google searches with "Luden" and some other
criteria give most hits in that country. Just a guess though.
