X-POST: GED to Web programs

Legg inn av Craig & Co. » 16. august 2005 kl. 0.59

Hi,

Tried writing my own GEDCOM to HTML program, but I don't have enough time
to get into it.

I know there a plenty of GED to WEB programs out there, but they ALWAYS do
Pedigree/Decendant type
views and never fill in all the siblings, etc.

So I'm wondering if there are any GED to WEB programs that give a view of
3/4 generations
but show EVERYONE in that 3/4 Generations?

Cheers
Craig.

Looks like a great program,

However it wasn't quite what I wanted.

The program would start off at a individual and in a tree like structure
would show the next 3/4 generations
including siblings.

I just need to create the basic tree
GRANDUNCLE - GRANDAUNT - GRANDFATHER - GRANDMOTHER - GRANDUNCLE - GRANTAUNT

| |- Same as above for Mother
UNCLE - AUNT -
- MOTHER - UNCLE - AUNT
|
|
CHILDREN
CHILDREN

I would then modify the HTML to put pop up boxed for mouseover events, which
would then
show DOB information.

Any ideas?

I'm sure my beautiful formatting will get screwed up when it comes on to the
newsgroups, but I hope you can
get the gist of what I'm looking for.

Cheers
Craig.

Well, you might actually be better off building your own than wasting
time hunting down an already-functional wheel, in this case. I don't
remember ever seeing web-output in the format you're describing.

Open Word or WP, create a table -- one row for each generation, one
column for each name on your longest generation -- then copy'n'paste
from your genie program and save-as .html

Thank you for all your responses.

Looks like I've got a program to write.

Will have a look at the suggested websites also - Stephen SG.

Thanks again
Craig.
