HI All,
I am looking for a genealogy program that on opening would pop up a birthday
and anniversary reminder (or any other option that may be required). Seems a
funny question but I spend so much time working on my family tree and am
considered the keeper of records for the family that sometimes- many times -
I forget the birthdays of the living relatives and they slip by. Surely this
could be incorporated in one of the computer programs that when I open my
Family Tree Maker, Legacy, Family Historian, Brothers keeper, Heredes or
some such program that it could give me a reminder of the events for that
particular day.
Cheers

It seems that the upcoming version of Legacy will do that.

Stickies 5.1. It's a little yellow note program that lets you hide a
note until a given time. I use it for all sorts of chores that I don't
want to forget. It runs in the tray, so when the designated time
arrives, the little note pops up. No other program has to be running.
The down side is you have to type in Aunt Maude's name and tell the note
to sleep until her birthday.
It can be found at http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/. I also notice that
he has a program called 'Birthday Reminder'. I expect it to be similar,
but I haven't used it.

I don't know how many people we are talking about, but you might
consider a non genealogy program. I live by a little free ware program,

Hi All,
Thanks for the answers. I will have a look at all three options. I have
often put this request on a wish list so someone might be going to take it
up eg Legacy.

program I use everyday.

Re: Pop up birthday & anniversary reminder
Thank you all, What good ideas the only problem now is the typing in as you
have said. It would be good if it let you submit a gedcom similar to family
tree software.
I would never put my family tree on the internet so that one is out.
Thanks for the ideas I will get stuck into typing names in over the weekend.
