TMG problem

Legg inn av Robyn » 24. mai 2005 kl. 8.59

Hi all, wonder if anyone knows if it's possible to find a downlaod for
The Master Genalogist V5, I purchased the software a year or so ago
(maybe more), i just reformatted my hard drive as I do every year or so
and while I was reinstalling TMG my grandson managed to open the CD
drive, pull the CD halfway out and close the drive again thus mangling
the CD completely. Of course it was almost the only software I own that
I had not copied to a backup CD. So I am now the proud possessor of
something like 200 various extension TMG files (why does it create so
many files btw?), a serial number and no programme. And if I manage to
find a copy of TMG V5 will the CD key still work? Any hints please.
Email to support at TMG got no reply!!!

Robyn,

If you can find the file for TMG 5 you should be able to reinstall it from a
download and yes, your serial number will work. I tried looking on their
website but cannot find the full version for 5.0. I can find update files
but not the full file. Have you tried posting on the TMG list? I'm
surprised support hasn't answered. I'd try them again, too. Usually
they're quite good but they can get backlogged. They also have a user forum
at Wholly Genes you could try.
http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php There should be some place
you can get the file downloaded. I seem to recall a message similar to
yours with a link that was sent on the TMG mailing list but couldn't find it
in the archives.

I haven't seen Robyn's message (only the copy posted by Pam) but GENCMP-L
is often slow and returns messages out of order for me.

We searched two years of emails and don't have any from you at all (if I'm
reading your email address correctly above). To what address are you
sending?

We can certainly direct you to the download of TMG v5. Please write to
[email protected] or post a message in the TMG 5 section of our
support forum (http://www.whollygenes.com/forums.htm) and include your
name. We will take care of you.

Thanks for the reply Bob, apologies to you if you didn't receive my
email (ironically I am currently researching the incidence of
undelivered emails for a conference paper). I will be in touch shortly,
I'm just waiting to hear the good/bad news from a friend who has had
some success with restoring badly scratched CDs.
