Recently We discussed the ancestry of
King Eric VII of Denmark and XIII of Sweden and after the throne passed to
his sister Catherine of Pomerania who had married John, Count Palatine of
Neumarkt and had a son Christopher III who ruled from 1440- 1448. His wife Dorothea
of Brandenburg had no children by him and his cousin Christain VI, Count of
Oldenburg and Duke of Schleswig whose claims to the various Kingdoms were as
follows to Denmark from King Eric V Glipping (Waldemar IV`s grandfather) Richsa
of Denmark m Nicholas III, Duke of Werle- Parchim, Sophie of Werle-Parchim m
Gerhard III, Count of Holstein- Rendsburg and Regent of Denmark, Henry II, Count
of Holstein-Rendsburg m Ingeborg of Mecklenburg, a granddaughter of Duke
Eric of Sodermanland and Ingeborg of Norway and Great Granddaughter of Magnus I
of Sweden and Haakon V of Norway, Gerhard VI, Count of Holstein and Duke of
Schleswig married Katherine, daughter of Duke Magnus II of
Brunswick-Wolffenbuttel, Hedwig of Schleswig-Holstein m Dietrich II, the Happy, Count of Oldenburg,
parents of Christain of Oldenburg who married his cousin`s widow and had
several children by her.

ps The nearest relationship between Christopher III and Christian I Kings
of Denmark appears to me to have been 3rd cousins through Albert II, Duke of
Mecklenburg and Euphemia of Sodermanland. Henry I, Duke of Mecklenburg was
sibling to Ingeborg, Duchess of Scleswig, Maria of Mecklenburg, Duchess of
Pomerania- Stolp was an own cousin to Gerhard VI, Duke of Schleswig, Eric VII King
of Denmark and his sister Catherine of Pomerania, Countess Palatine of
Neumarkt was a 2nd cousin to Hedwig of Scleswig, Countess of Oldenburg and King
Christopher III of Denmark was King Christian I of Denmark`s 3rd cousin.
