Hi again :) This was a great place, so i try again with an another family question.

I´m trying to find my great great great grandmother that left Norway and emigrated to America.

I have been receiving help in digitalarkivets brukerforum and other places, but there has not been possible to find her in America.

She was born in Nore in Buskerud, 07 mar in 1813, and her parents was Halvor Eriksen Raaen og hustru Gjertrud Toresdatter.

She married Nils Andersen 02 april 1837.

In 1876 she leave from Nore in Buskerud and she are emigrating to America.

(it is written that she leaves with her son Torstein, but he probably never left Nore, and died in 1924)

She emigrates from Oslo 10. may in 1878 with hero line, heading for Duran st.Ill:

Her husband is not dead, and are left behind in Norway. But on the emigration, she is listed as a widow.

She had a daughter Bergit/Birgit that emigrated to America in 1869: I don`t know where she emigrated to.

This is her children:
Birgit b.12.jun.1837 emigrated to America.
Halvor b. 18.mar.1840 d. ? moved to Tinn, married 3 children.
Andres b. 13.oct.1842 d. 16.feb.1929 (my great great grandfather)
Gjertrud b. 06.dec.1844 d. 07.07.1898 Living in Nore, several children.
Erik b. 08.jun.1848 d. ? i 1929 moved to Røyken,Buskerud married twice, several children.
Anne b. 07.feb.1851 d. 12.aug.1884 married and several children
Nils b. 28.nov.1855 d. ? i 1931 Living in Nore, unmarried, no children
Torstein b. 11.jan.1857 d. 06.sep.1924 Living in Nore, unmarried, no children
Tore b. 29.apr.1859 d. 13.jun.1858 dead as a child.

There is also an another Anne Halvorsdatter born 07.mar in 1813 that emigrated to America!

We first think that this was my great 3. grandmother, but she came from Eggedal, not so far from Nore. Link to familysearch: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M9LB-XFH

But this is not the same woman. She is also Mulatto (this must be wrong, since she is born in Norway)

So i hope there are someone here in slektsforum that can help me find my great 3 grandmother!

My dream are, if we can find her, that i`m travel to the place where she ended and hopefully there is a cemetery to see :)

Hei Ronny,
Is it possible Anne's reisemaal was Durand (a small village) in the state of Illinois (=st., Ill)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durand,_Illinois

Then there is a Jacksonville, Illinois (Morgan county)...maybe Anne's daughter, Birgit was going there at the time of her emigration?

Just some ideas....
men kanskje dette kann hjelper deg! (sorry for poor Norwegian!)

Patty

I have been receiving answer from the archive in Norway, asking for the deathcertificat for Anne`s husband.

There is no mentioning of his wife, only that he left behind 8 children, and of them one in america.

The man who reported this was his son Tosten Nilsen Kleiva. (he is the one that according to the churchbook emigrated with his mother in 1876, so this proves that he never emigrated)

Anne went with the ship Hero from Wilson line. I understand that it goes to Hull in England, and wilson line had a contract with the railroad to carry the passengers to Liverpool.

Any suggestions what line Anne went with further from Liverpool?

I understand from the webpage Norway-Heritage:

" The Wilson Line also had a transatlantic steamship route between England and new York, but for some reason this service was not offered for Norwegian emigrants, probably due to the feeder contracts with the other great transatlantic lines. "

Hei igjen
Are you sure this is not the right Anne Halvorson? (you gave this FS link earlier..)
This Anne is born March 1813, as given in the 1900 Iowa census
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1325221

I understand the immigration year for Anne in this census (1881) is off.

Patty
Perhaps the question is Aslaug a daughter of YOUR Anne.

Hei Egil,
Yes, I did see the list of Anne's children...but I just wondered if perhaps there was another child...Aslaug.

I see that Birgit's ticket was paid for in America...any idea who was in America before Birgit?

Hi Patty :)

This is Aslaugs baptism in Nissedal, Telemark. So you can see that this is not my Anne Halvorsdatters daughter.

I have not found anyone close related to Birgit that emigrated before her. But i am trying to find out. There is a possibillity that she could have met a man when she was working in Eiker, Buskerud in the 1865 census and maybe he emigrated before her and paid for her ticket.
