I had a similar problem with a number of "brownie box" size negatives going
back to the 1920's. So made myself a simple light box using a white
light(globe) and translucent art paper. I laid a quantity of negatives on
the scanner bed, put the box and art paper over them and use the normal
settings for scanning a photo. It took some experiments to get it right but
it allowed me to scan large quanities of negatives at the same time.I now
have an A4 "contact sheet that I can manipulate within photo shop
