Repeat information in Legacy

Legg inn av Beagle » 9. januar 2005 kl. 10.06

I have used the Legacy database to compile my pedigree and have now produced
a multiple lines of descent report.

The trouble with this is much of the information appears twice. For
instance the extensive notes I have for my father appear in the main family
line and also in the line for my mother's family. This wastes a lot of
space and paper when printed out and is obviously unnecessary. He married
four times and had children by two wives so if I were to include the descent
of his other childbearing wife as well no doubt he would appear in full
there too making it three times.

I cannot find a way to stop the information being repeated in this way when
using that form of report but wonder if anyone else knows if this can be
done or whether I just have to live with the problem.

Hi "Beagle" or Peter? or Someone?

The answer in the boxes you've selected in the Report Options - you've
obviously ticked Children's Notes and probably every other mention of notes.
If you don't tick Children's Notes it doesn't mean they're excluded - just
means they don't appear when the children are listed under the parents -
they'll just appear when the "children" appear as parents in their own
right.

A suggestion - always use the Preview option to see the impact of switching
on or off any of these Report Options. As well as that it is a REALLY good
idea to use the Help buttons regularly and also to use the TUTORIAL from the
main Help menu / overview.
