Mørch family in Trondheim

Legg inn av gj09661 » 28 mar 2014 15:06:45

Dear members,

1. In ‘Hvem var Hvem 2 ’, - Trondhjems borgerskap 1680- 1730 I discovered the following data.

• 760, 12e rode: Jonas Effuertsen (Daae), lived in the same house as Jens Christenssøn [b]Mørch
and his wife, as “tilholder”, with his wife Kirsten Hansdatter, his mother in law, his(?) son Anders, and his daughter Kirsten(*1687). Jonas’ former wife was Kirsten Jensdatter.

• 573, 10e rode. Jens Nielsen Mørch

• Peder Olluffsen Mørch lives in the Jomfrugaden

• Niels Mørch In the library of the university of Trondheim is a seal collection.
There is a seal with a coat of arms of N.E.S.M. (Niels Mørch) of 1781.[ 1781:07:01, film F II 2714 nr 0999}

2. In the “Risnes bygdabok” we can read that Riisnaesgaard (Masfjorden). was possession of the son of the bishop of Bergen, Jens Pedersen Schjelderup, in that time: Thomas Schjelderup. In 1668 Anders Mørch lived there as tenant.

My question is the genealogy of the Mørchfamily in Trondheim and was Kirsten Jensdatter a member of the Mørch family?

In the book you mention it says in page 29, as a part of "Manntall over Trondhjem bys familier og Handkverner 1687":
760.Jonas Efuertsen oc hans vermoder, tilholder Jens Cristensßen
Mørch med sin hustru, to døttere oc 1 søn. 7
personer.

In other words, none of the females are mentioned by name, neither any of the children.

There are two families here:
1) Jonas Efuertsen and his mother-in-law
2) Jens Christensßen Mørch with his wife, his son and two daugthers.

This book does not mention his wifes name, nor his children by name, this must be information from somewhere else. The information you provide about his wife and children, where does it come from?

As for the genealogy, I do not know who his (Jens Christensen Mørch) wife was, nor his children.

However, there are probate records of Christen Jensen Mørch in 1708 and Anne Jensdatter Mørch in 1747. These two makes it possible to establish that Christen and Anne were siblings of Jens Mørch. I have not found any evidence to make a connection, but there are no other Jens Mørch in Trondheim that could possibly be the father.

His family are described, as well as hers. They had a son together, Jens Mørch but he was already dead in 1747.

From her family are mentioned the daugther of her brother, Ragnele Sr. Henrich Dreier.

Since we know that Ragnele (Ragnhild) was married to Henrich Dreyer and daugther of Christen Jensen Mørch, we can establish a connection between Anne Jensd. and Christen Jensen.

I said above I had no proof that Jens Christensen Mørch was father to Anne and Christen. There are however some strong indications: In a probate record dated 19. january 1699 (fol.245b), it says that Jens Christensen Mørch made claim on "borgerleiet" called Kjerringøy.

From the record in 1747 we know that Anne Mørch and her husband Hans Hansen Norman had their "borgerleie" just the exact same place, Kjerringøy.

From this, we can establish a connection. It is likely that Hans Hansen Norman and his wife at some time got the place from her father, possibly after his death or when they got married.

As I stated in my first post, Jonas had no wife in 1687. His former wife, Kirsten Hansdatter died only a year or so earlier.

Her probate record are dated 9. january 1686 in Trondheim. Kirsten/Kiersten Hansdatter, Jonas Effuertsens.

Her brothers are said to be Tron and Gabriel Pedersen. In other words, half brothers, they didn't have the same father obviously.

Dear members,

Thank you very much for the information!
Well, my thesis, is for the time being, that the son Mørch was as orphan adopted by Jonas Effuertsen and his wife Kristen Hansdatter as Anders Daae. After the death of Jonas Anders went to the Hoff family related with the Skjelderups and not to the still living Daa-family in Danmark. Both families, Mørch and Skjelderup where connected with the Mørch family; see Risnes.
With kind regards,
Anders Daae

It seem that you missed a key question: None of the sources provided above mention any son Anders, where do you have this information from?

The tax record of Trondheim 1687 clearly states that there was only one son in the household, and that it clearly was the son of Jens Christensen Mørch, not Jonas Evertsen. The household of Jonas Evertsen had only one person besides himself, and that was his mother-in-law.

Why would that son be any other than Christen Jensen Mørch? What source do you base your theory on, that suggest Jens Christensen Mørch had a second son, Anders Jensen Mørch, a person you refer to as Anders Daae?
