Bertha Johannesdtr, f 1836 av Johannes Jensen og Eli Eriksdt
Hei ~
For a member of the Nord Hedmark og Hedemarken lag, I am looking for information on where Bertha Johannesdtr was born and any brothers or sisters that she may have had.
We believe that she lived in Ringsaker for a while, because the trunk that she brought to America has her name, the date of 1851, and the farm Præstqværn, of which the only such farm in Norway is in Ringsaker. She is said to have been born 22 Okt 1836 to Johannes Jensen and Eli Eriksdtr. She emigrated to the US, perhaps in 1861 and married in 1865 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
I have not been able to locate her birth, confirmation nor her emigration in the Ringsaker church books, so perhaps she was born elsewhere, but spent some time at Præstqværn - perhaps even when she was confirmed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Takk så mye, Marit.
You were also so quick to respond? Is Bertha in your ancestry?
Best wishes,
John

The print devil tricked me. You are right.
Re: Bertha Johannesdtr, f 1836 av Johannes Jensen og Eli Eri
Yes, thanks to Marit's link to Family Search, the 7 siblings have been found -- although I would not be surprised there was one or two more, as there is a gap between 1842 and 1847.
The next challenge is to find out what happened to them. Birte/Bertha emigrated to the US, and the 1900 census says that she came in 1861.
There is an index of utflytting from Ringsaker on Digitalarkivet, but Bertha is not found in it.
Also, I could not positively identify any of her siblings or her parents in either the 1865 census, or in the utflytting index.
Any suggestions on how to find these siblings would be most welcome.
Takk!
John

Takk, Helén. This was a good find.
Hopefully, I can find Even in the US censuses and that we can find the fate of the other brother and sisters and the parents.
Med beste hilsen,
John

When Eli died she had no heirs in Norway.
All her 5 children lived in Amerika; 3 sons: Andreas, Nils and Even and 2 daughters: Berte and Marie.
All the posessions Eli had is listed. Very interesting to read if you are able to read the handwriting.
It starts a little down in the first colomn with: "Aar 1866 den 21 april..."

According to the protocol above Eli lived on the farm Fossen when she died so this must be her in the 1865 census:

Hei Vivi ~
Thank you so, so much for all of this! I can't explain why I missed all these people in the utflytta records....
A question. For her death record, the church books say that Eli Eriksdtr died at Præstqværn, while the skifte record and 1865 say Fossen. Might it be that Fossen was a subfarm under Præstqvern and thus, both are technically correct?
Igjen, takk så mye!
