Det jeg vet er at Johan Chr. Olsen BROMSTAD født i 1826 i Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag. Han var handelsmann. Gift med Bergitte Petersdtr MELHUS, den 26.12.1860 i Trondheim, Vår frue kirke, Sør-Trøndelag.
De bodde i Nygata 5, Indre bakklandet i Trondheim i 1865. Registrert med 10 barn i folketellingen for 1875. Er nevnt i Trondhjems bys historie i forbindelse med etableringen av Handelsbanken (refinansieringen av Detaljistforeningenes Sparebank) i 1884. Finner ikke mer om han.
Antar han har emigrert til USA for i 1890 reiser hans kone Bergitte til USA (nr 1297) over Trondheim. Utreisedato 4.6.1890. Reiste til Denver CO. (Reiste sammen med døtrene Inga, Sunniva og Antonie)
