Dodsfallsprotokoll Peter Nielsen 1870

The entry for Peter Nielsen 26 October 1870 is here:

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 320042.jpg

Right hand page, first entry.

I can see that he was a widower, worker/labourer age 77 and a bit of his address.

I would be very grateful if somebody could translate the rest of his entry for me please.

Best Regards

Darryl,
Sydney Australia

Hello

The text in the column to the right, reads: "Efterlader 6 myndige børn, tilstedeværende" ("Leaves 6 grown children, present"). Present means, most probably, that they would live in the surroundings or, at least, that they have not emigrated.

His adress was Langleikgaden No 8. In the census of 1865 this street is called Langeleiken and belonged to the parish Grønland.

Hei Darryl

Langleiken at Enerhaugen and pictures (norw.: bilder): http://www.oslobilder.no/search?searchstring=langleiken

The old Enerhaugen was torn down, quite a few would say demolished, in the 1960s and some of the houses were moved to Norsk Folkemuseum.

Thank you Tom, Anne and Kjersti for your help.

The pictures of old Oslo are a great help too. I have a very good idea of what old Sydney would have looked like as I have lived here all my life but I was finding it a bit hard to form the same idea for Kristiania. Those pictures have been very helpful.

Kind regards

Darryl
