Kirkebok 1893 Sagene. Kristiania, Oslo

Legg inn av gj16333 » 04 jun 2012 12:24:13

I am hoping that someone is able to help with the translation of some information in the baptism entry for my Great Grandfather's niece Gudren Louise Kamilla ERIKSEN born and baptised 4 Jul 1893 in Sagene

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... ?visbok=ja

She is Number 130 in the girls.

In the last column of her entry is some writing that I have been told by a very helpful Norwegian contact that he thought it may have had something to do with that in 1944 she got permission to marry someone that she was related to.

Is anybody able to help with another translation?

Tusen takk for hjelp

Gudrun Lovise is born July 4, and bapt. Aug. 20, according to the two first columns.

The last column shows that she got the permission to use Eriksnes as surname instead of Eriksen. Permission given by the Department of Justice on Sept. 20, 1944.

Else B.

Thank you for that information concerning the name change, and the correct dates. You have helped me before Else, for which I am greatful.

Would there be any obvious reason to change your surname from Eriksen to Eriksnes? Her father died when she was three and as far as is known, she did not marry.

Gudren and her sister Rakel exchanged Christmas cards with their cousin Marie Louise Smedley nee Olsen (my grandmother) here in Sydney until the cards stopped coming in the mid 1970's. They were in Norwegian, which my grandmother couldn't read, and the ones she sent were in English, which her cousins couldn't read, or so she said. That was the last contact with our Norwegian relatives.

Takk
