Nes - Petra, Emma, Margit og Selma Syversen Eriksen

We are looking for information on four sisters who were born and raised in Nes in the late 1800's and early 1900's, but who all went to Oslo by 1910.

The sisters are the daughters of Syver Eriksen (1855-1938)and Marte Pedersdtr (1852-1943), who lived at Mailund in Nes, and are:

Petra, f. 1877 July 28
Emma, f. 1880 April 29
Margit, f. 1891 Feb 7
Selma, .f 1894 Feb 14

We have utflyttende records from 1901 for Petra and Emma moving to Oslo and found Margit and Selma living in Oslo in the 1910 census (but we did not find either Petra or Emma in Olso at that time). We were not able to find any of the sister in the emigration records on the Digital Archives as leaving Norway, although the Nes bygdebok says that Petra and Emma possibly went to the US.

We would greatly appreciate any information on where the sisters were in the latter parts of their lives.

John, this is what I digged up now.
Syver Eriksen born 1855 in Veldre married 1876 Marte Pedersdatter born 1852 had the following children:
Petra 28.07.1877 moved to Christiania 1894 Attest 17.07.1901
Emma 1880 to Christiania 1896 and Attest 12.07.1901 to USA 1901?
Peder b. 03.01.1883 to USA 05.03.1903
Anton b. 1885 to USA became a goldsmith
Adolf b. 1888 USA?
Margit b. 1891
Selma b. 1894
Jørgen b.22.02. 1897 to USA 1914

Thanks again for the information that you provided on Petra and her husband in Oslo. I was able to find her marriage in Oslo and a person in Oslo was able to find their dates of death (also in Oslo) and that they had no children.

Takk, Hans ~

We have been able to find the records for Petra in Oslo. She got married there and she and her husband spent the rest of their lives there, with both dying in Oslo.

We also found out that Emma emigrated to the US in 1903, married her and had a large family of 9 children.

We also found the records for Adolph (Adolf) emigrating to the US and he is the ancestor of the person in our lag that I am helping.

The person that I am helping hopes to find living relatives in Norway, so we are going to search the Oslo records more for Margit and Selma.

Is there some one in the Nes area who is collecting data on people from this area for either updating the bygdebok or some other database? I would be glad to share what we have found.
