Kan noen som har tilgang, gjøre oppslag i «Federal Census for Iroquois County, Illinois 1840»? Kan dere finne John S. Oxford. Boka «History of Iroquis County» av H.W. Beckwith (Chicago 1880) sier på side 339: “A colony of Norwegians, consisting of some thirty families, settled on the north side og Beaver Creek about 1837. Their cabins extended three of four miles up the stream from section 22, in range 12. The leading man lived and died on the J.S. Oxford place.” Og the leading man was Ole Rynning fra Snåsa! Derfor min interesse for John S. Oxfords «place» ca. 1840.
