Confirmation record for Ole Larsen, Kaas (Koss), 1834
Ole Larsen was born in 1818 to people who were not married and no marriage record has been found for the parents.
In the confirmation record in 1834, the father's name is listed, followed by the mother's name and the farm name. If I did things corrected, attached are copies of the confirmation records from both the Ministerialbok and the Klokkerbok.
Does this imply that the father and mother were living together at the time of the confirmation?
Takk - De kan skrive på norsk.

John, one thing. You are searching for a Lars Larsen born 1818. OK , there was two of them.
Lars Larsen born Feb.2 bapt. Apr.5 1818 out of wedlock on Haukaassveen
Parents: Lars Jensen and Maren Larsdatter.
This Lars was never confirmed because he died Sep.18, 1818 on Ellefsæthereie 7 months 16 days old.
The Lars Larsen you are searching for is born june 12, bapt, june 16 , 1818 Nyhuuseie. Parents: Lars Larsen and Berthe Larsdatter.
Lars was confirmed APr. 9, 1837, living on Windjueie age 16, (given age is wrong)
Why do you search for Lars Larsen born 1818? Do you have more on him? Married ?

Hei Hans ~
Thanks for your note.
I am looking for Ole Larsen's parents and older generations.
His parents were Lars Olsen Opsahl and Christen Tollefsdtr Kaas.
Ole married and had 11 children, about half died in Norway and the family emigrated to the US and used the name of Helstad. We have about half a dozen of these descendants in the lag, and one is the treasurer for both NHOH and the Tre Lag Stevne.
Thor is also trying to find the background of the parents and grandparents, but things are a bit contorted.
Cheers,
John

I suppose it is "your" Ole baptized in record 235 here:
SAH, Ringsaker prestekontor, K/Ka/L0005: Ministerialbok nr. 5, 1814-1826, s. 110-111

By the way. His mothers first name is Kirstine according to the baptize record. In the confirmation record she is mentioned as Kristine/Christine. But that is not unusual.

Re: Confirmation record for Ole Larsen, Kaas (Koss), 18324
Hei Paul Johan ~
Yes, that is my Ole. The mother's first name is Kirstine in the Ministerialbok and Christine Klokkerbok. Ah, yes....
It does not appear that the parents married. (In fact, we found a marriage for the father (Lars Olsen Opsahl) to another woman a few years later.
But, my real question is about the confirmation records as shown in the attachment to my original note. With the way the parents' names are listed, does it imply that the parents are still together? Or is the farm name only for the mother.
Med vennlig hilsen,
John

Re: Confirmation record for Ole Larsen, Kaas (Koss), 18324
Thanks, Hans.
When Ole was confirmed (Ole confirmed 05.10.1834 at Stormoldstad.), both parents are listed in the records as shown in the attachment of my initial posting.
After the names of the parents, the farm is listed as Stormoldstad. Is there any implication that both parents lived at Stormoldstad at the time of the confirmation, or only that Kristine lived there?
As shown by the birth data that you provided, the Lars Olsen who appears to be Ole's father was married to Ingeborg Olsdtr.
Takk!
John

Det behøver ikke å bety at de bodde sammen. Opplysninger ved konfirmasjon kan være ren avskrift av det som sto ved dåpen.

Thanks, Astrid.
That answers my question, but, unfortunately, makes for more of a challenge to trace the ancestry!
