2. The second search concerns my great-great uncle, Johan Oluf
August Johanson. He was born in Flekkefjord on February 27, 1853 to Anders Gustaf Johanson and Regine Elisabeth Sigbjornsdatter. He was one of 6 children and the
only one whom I have not been able to locate. Here's what I know
about him.
In 1875 he was listed in the census as a sailor living in Hamburg,
Germany.
At the time of his mother's death in 1882, he is listed in the
probate record as living in Australia. The family heard from him once after that, and never again.
He went by the first name of August. The spelling of the last name
has been Johanson, Johansson, Johansen, Johanssen, Johanneson and Johannesen.

I would like to find out what became of him, and if he ever had a
family in Australia. If you believe that I should work with an Australian genealogist on this, can you recommend someone?
