Men Ragnhils Oldsdatter (Skjefte) gifta seg med Engebret(Ingebret) Helgesen (Høime) 22.mars 1877. Bor i Vang,Vestre Slidre.

De emigrerte 02,07,1886 til Walley Sprins med skipet Angeloe.

De har og en sønn Helge Høime som og emigrerte da.

Baltic - Mabel Hammer, age 100 of Baltic, entered into eternal rest with her Lord on Thursday, May 21, 2009.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, Baltic. Burial will be in the East Nidaros Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at the church.
She is survived by one daughter, Louise Anne and husband William Hall of Moose Lake, Minnesota; three sons, James and wife Peg of Des Moines, Iowa; Gerald and wife Jean of Baltic; Donald and wife Gaila of Irving, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Julie Hammer of Lakewood, Colorado. Mabel is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, loved ones and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Roger and Merlin and a granddaughter.

Eda Wilson rites Tuesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Eda Wilson were held Tuesday in the Dell Rapids Lutheran church. Mrs. Wilson died Sept. 9 in Yankton. The Rev. E.S. Skaar officiated with Mrs. John Muller as organist and Mrs. Tom Merry as soloist. Pallbearers were Dennis Griffith, Gerald Hammer, James and Donald Page, Harold Hoyme and Richard Newhagen. Interment took place in the Dell Rapids Cemetery.

Eda Hoyme was born to Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Hoyme near Jasper, Minn., May 6, 1892. She moved to Moody County with her parents and in 1912 the family moved to Dell Rapids where she resided until her last illness. She was a graduate of Augustana College and taught school for several years. She was married to Guy D. Wilson of Dell Rapids in June 1924. He died in August 1931. Mrs. Wilson worked in several business places in Dell Rapids, and retired in 1957 from her position in the New First National Bank in Dell Rapids.

She was a member of the Dell Rapid Lutheran Church, Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodges and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was Past Matron of the OES, past president of the AL Auxiliary and Past Noble Grand of the Rebekahs.

She is survived by her nephew Howard Hoyme, Dell Rapids; five nieces, including Mrs. Marble Hammer of Baltic, Mrs. Rosella Page of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Anna Newhagen of Egan, Mrs. Inez Griffith, Dickinson, Texas and Mrs. Harvey Eitreim, Luverne, Minn., also a half sister and half brother Bernita and Engebret Hoyme of Minneapolis.

Howard Hoyme, 81, dies; delivered U.S. mail, justice

Dell Rapids – Whether delivering mail by day or dispensing justice at night, Howard L. Hoyme enjoyed being around people.

"My father was a people person," said Hoymes' son, Harold, of Tucson, Ariz. "He liked contact with people."

Hoyme worked full time as a rural mail carrier from 1952 until his retirement in 1980. He also worked part time as a Second Judicial Circuit Court judge from 1959 until 1980, and then full time from 1980 until 1984.

"I'd have a real hard time saying which one he lied better," Harold Hoyme said. "He liked them both."

Hoyme, 81, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 1995, at the Dell Rapids Community Hospital.

Hoyme was one of South Dakota last lay magistrates, a lay person who was not a lawyer.

He was elected Justice of the Peace and served in that position for 14 years. He then served for 10 years as a lay magistrate for the Second Judicial Circuit Courts.

The election had been nonpolitical, Harold Hoyme said. His father was appointed to the magistrate position because the Second Judicial Court was impressed by the job he had done as a Justice of the Peace.

"His duties were to preside over all misdemeanor cases, no felonies," Hoyme's son said. "He also performed marriages."

"He loved it," Harold Hoyme said. "He was very good at it. He was appreciated by everyone and considered a fair and practical judge. He received all kind of accolades after he retired."

Although Hoyme never attended college, his sons considered him a learned man.

Mike Hoyme of Tucson, said of his father, "He had a love of learning. He loved to read books on history."

"He would've loved going to law school," Harold Hoyme said.

But a series of events ranging from U.A. Army service to marriage left him no time to attend.

"He had five kids and he took great pride in the academic accomplishment of his children and his grandchildren," Harold Hoyme said.

Hoyme was born Sept. 25, 1914, in Dell Rapids. He grew up in the Dell Rapids area and graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1933. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1934 to 1936. He then farmed before working on the Great Northern Railway. He served in the Army from 1942 until November of 1945, serving during World War II.

He married Amy Kleppe on Dec. 2, 1945, in Dell Rapids. He worked with his brother in a hatchery and produce business until May of 1952, when he began working for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was elected to the Dell Rapids City Council and Dell Rapids School Board. He was a past commander for the Dell Rapids American Legion Post and was a lifetime member of the DAV. He was a past member of the Dell Rapids Masonic Lodge No. 40 A.F. & A. M.; a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry S.J. USA; and I.O.O.F Lodge No. 8 of Dell Rapids. He served as president of the church council and taught Sunday school for many years at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids.

In addition to his wife, and two sons, survivors include two other sons, Larry of Crooks; and Roger of Dell Rapids; one daughter, Mrs. J.J. (Janice) Frerichs of Iowa City, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters: Inez Griffith of Dickinson, Texas; and Mabel Hammer of Baltic.

Services begin at 2 p.m. today at the Lutheran Church in Dell rapids, with burial in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Kahler Funeral Home in Dell Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Helge E. Hoyme passed away on Thursday morning, October 5, after a lingering illness. He had been in failing health for several years, but his condition did not become critical until July 10th, of this year, when he entered the Dell Rapids Hospital and was a patient there until his death.

Funeral rites were held Monday afternoon from Bethania Church of which he was a life-long member. He was a one of the first to be confirmed in this church, and always active in its interests, Services were in charge of Rev. Edward Hegland, D.D. , Pastor of the church.

Helge E. Hoyme was born in Valders, Norway, December 25, 1876. He came to the United States with his parents at the age of nine. After a few years they settled on a farm west of Jasper, Minn., in Alliance Township, Moody County, where he resided continuously until 1926.

On July 20, 1901, he was married to Louise Oihus. To them were born eight children, one son, Lawrence, dying in infancy. Mrs. Hoyme passed away September 23, 1918, leaving the seven children ranging in ages from four to sixteen. Mr. Hoyme was a kind and loving father, and sacrificed much to rear and educate this large motherless family.

He continued farming in Moody County until the fall of 1926, when he moved to Dell Rapids. He resided there for five years. Since then he has made his home with his daughter.

He leaves five daughters, Mrs. Rosella Page, Valley Springs; Mrs. Anna Newhagen, Trent; Mrs. Mabel Hammer, Sherman; Mrs. Inez Griffith, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Bernice Eitreim, Sinai; two sons, Obed and Howard Hoyme of Dell Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Eda Wilson of Dell Rapids and a half-sister, Berneita; a half-brother, Engebret, both of Minneapolis; 15 grandchildren; an uncle, Tom Hoyme of Jasper and one aunt, Mrs. Barbara Shefte of Norway. Besides the wife he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Committal rites took place in the church cemetery with Henry Hoyme, Emil Hoyme, Guy Risty, John Thompson, Knute Shefte, and Dr. E.K. Shefte as pallbearers.

Out of town people who were here for the funeral were: Chris Framsted, Minneapolis, Oluf Hellie, Albert Lea, Minn.; Miss Hattie Hellie, Albert Lea, Minn.; Mrs. Isabel Swanson, Osage, Iowa; Henry Hoyme, Emil Hoyme, Hills, Minn.; Guy Risty, John Thompson, Sioux Falls; Knute Shefte, Jasper; Dr. E.K. Shefte, Volga.

My great grandfather, Engebret Hoyme, homesteaded near Jasper, MN. He had 3 children with his first wife, Raghnild, 2 of whom survived: Eda and Helge. Engebret remarried and moved to the Twin Cities, where he had a second family. Helge, my grandfather, had 8 children, 7 of whom survived. My father, Howard, was the youngest of the 7. My dad and his siblings grew up in Dell Rapids, as did my siblings and I. Helge's descendants keep in touch. We have a Hoyme cousins reunion each summer!
