Bygdebok for Vikedal (Rogaland)

[Michael VanBaaren]

Is there a bygebok for Vikedal parish in Rogaland? If not, does anyone know
of one in the works? I am trying to find some ancestors from the Opsal farm
in Vikedal prior to the parish registers. Thanks for any information.

How old data do you need? at least back to 1801 is on the net.

Vikedalsætter by Nils Dybdal-Holthe issued in 1979 is a small book where Opsal is mentioned. I can do a look up if you want.

I am not able to find Laurits Lauritsen Opsal, f. c1611 in this document.

However, Lars Knutsen Hogganvik, f. c1564 and d. 1625 is mentioned there on page 9 in the following chapter:

5. Olav Larsen Håland b. 1606 d. 1677 married to Marit Larsdt. Hogganvik, widow after Gudmund Toresen Fosen, Avaldsnes. She is the daughter of lensmann Lars (Laurits) Knutsen Hogganvik. Olav was lensmann in Hetland and later Jelsa and lived at Håland. He owned several farms, 26 “laupar” butter and 1 “vett” grain. Lars Knutsen Hogganvik’s wife is not known for certain, but it was probably a daughter of Torgils Galte. Lars’ mother was daughter of Sevat Oddsen Skiftun who was married to a daughter of Jon Stillufseike in Vats. Jon was probably brother to Amund at Ile, see XXIII,1.
