1801 census lookup please

Legg inn av Maloney Empire » 28. oktober 2004 kl. 13.47

Hi All,

I am looking for the parents of my earliest found ancestor, Frederick Esse.
Frederick married in England in 1801 to Maria Catherina Purer or Burer. I
had been advised to look at the Norway website but I found it difficult to
understand what to do.
Frederick and Maria (known as Catherina) had several children, one being
Adolphus Frederick and it was suggested that maybe Adolphus was named after
his grandfather. Would someone be kind enough to have a look for me.
Appreciate any assistance.

Hi Kelly,

Thanks for looking - I thought it was a long shot.
I haven't searched the Essen in Sweden - I get confused trying to understand
how to use the non-English websites.

Thank goodness for people like you.

Couldn't find anyone with such a name in Norway in the 1801 census. There
were a few Essen, but no Frederick and no Adolphus. On the other hand,
there
was one in Sweden who I found on Family Search :

ADOLPH FRIDRIC ESSEN
Male

Event(s):
Birth:
Christening: 14 JAN 1744

Parents:
Father: ERIC ESSEN
Mother: ANNA MARIA KIONMAN

I think at least it's worth a try.

Have you heard of this? Anbytarforum, you can post a query in English.
http://genealogi.aland.net/discus/messa ... opics.html

If you really think he came from Norway, you could also try to post a
query - in English - to the debate forum at Digitalarkivet :

Hi Kelly,

Sorry for the late reply.
I went away for a wonderful 2 day holiday with a group of lovely 'oldies'
and not so oldies.
Great fun - great sense of humour and good company.

Thank you, I will give those two websites a try.

Much appreciated.
