FTM2005 problems
1) cannot open old FTM CD's
2) outline descendant tree no longer available. Was useful tool
3) can't print pedigree view.
Seriously thinking of going back to old version. Nice interface on 2005 but
not much better in use.

You can open the outline descendant tree under the "report" icon.
You can open old FTM CD's under
"View : then Data Cd and then View CD
Hopefully they will let us print the pedigree view in the future, but it is
a nice new feature.
I also really like the new interface.

I have been using FTM for many years. (Now v 11)
The only thing that annoys me, is that you can´t display dates in the ISO
format (YYYY-MM-DD).
Have they added that capability in FTM 2005?

Yes, I know, it's a *standard* -- but it a voluntary-compliance issue.

You can´t really mean that adding the option to express dates in a third way
would upset Americans.
Besides that, I can enter the dates as YYYY-MM-DD and the program displays
the correct date backwards (Not the American backward way, but DD-MM-YYYY)
so it shouldn´t be that difficult to add (and you aren´t forced to use it
<g>).

(G) Yeah, but look at it from the other end: why spend the time,
effort and resources to add and acceptance-test some option not more
than 1 in thousand of your customers will use, let alone want. You can
put that all into adding something everyone DOES want -- the ability to
add sound-bites, f'instance. Sure wish some of my ancestors had been
thoughtful enough to LEAVE sound-bites so I had to worry about it ...

I must admit that I didn´t know that Americans were so easy to confuse, but
OK, information received...
Please don´t be so touchy about it. It´s not your fault. <g>
It is quite OK to write Sept 3, but I find it more difficult to accept 09-03
which is ambiguous. If the date was written either the American way
(MMDDYYYY) or the more natural YYYYMMDD, the the ambiguity shouldn´t exist.
Now FTM has two ambiguous alternatives.
Even Microsoft has acknowledged the ISO format...
It can´t be that hard to implement, as the program already can handle the
format. It´s only a matter of presenting the information the correct way.
This thread has already gone too far away from the original question so I´ll
end it here.
Keep walking

Kurt,
Remember, we're talking about FTM here. FTM has always maintained "as
simple as possible to appeal to the lowest common denominators out
there".... ie, dumb down the interface and remove any options so as
not to confuse grandma.
The likelyhood of that ever becoming an option in FTM is as near to
zero as one can get.
