Family Tree maker v 7 spyware.

My FTM v 7, each time I use the program, actives something that both Adaware
and Spybot recognise as bad news and then invites me to delete. it. After
my next FTM use, there it is again.

It shows as:
DSS AGENT Global Settings
HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Broderbundsoftware\dss

How do I get rid of this permanently please in such a way that it does not
harm the program of my OS?

Cheek of FTM to put it in a gen. program for which one pays through the
nose.

Check the archives. This was beaten to death back when FTM ver 7 was
current.

The then owners of FTM swore up and down that the inclusion of DSS Agent was
never used by them for any neferious reasons.

Before you throw good money after bad, I'd think about doing something other
than upgrading FTM to a later version just to get rid of the spyware. I use
Legacy which is a far superior program to FTM. Also, there's the excellent
Master Genealogist and the very fine program that the LDS church offers for
free.

I removed the DSSMS32R.DLL agent from C\FTM
I also removed the DSSAGENT.EXE from ftm\Bbstore

I put them into a file folder on my desktop,
which is with the FTW files that I use to look at cds.
I titled the folder "don't-ftm-use"
I kept them in case the program wouldn't run without them.

I use v8 to look at cds and don't intend to upgrade or use for my
genealogy record keeping. I like Brothers Keeper "this month" for the
nice reports otherwise PAF is GREAT except for the CHAN code the put in
everytime you dot an i.
