Ragnild Joensdtr Biørnås (f. 1794), Lunder, Bukerud
Ragnild Joesdatter was born on Biørnås Gård, Lunder annex, Norderhov P:g, Buskerud 29 May 1794 of parents Joen Ellingsen Biørnås and Sissel Olsdatter Vesbye. I seek confirmation of this birth and the farm-names associated with the parents. Further, I believe I have identified the the parents of Joen (f. 19 Feb 1769) as Elling Olsen Biørnås and Ragnild Eriksdatter . The parents of Sissel (f. 25 Nov 1764) might be Ole Larsen and Berit Knudsdatter. Is it possible to confirm these individuals?

Hello.Lisbeth Wangen skrev:Hello I found Ragnild on Family search. And the name of the parents.Have been searching the churchbooks and cant find her.
The Parish register from Norderhov confirm that Ragnil was baptized 29.May.1794 in Lunder.
Parents: Joen Ellingsen Bornaaseie and Sissel OlsD:
Witnesses: Henrich Gulbrandsen Hovland, Ole Ellingsen ibid eje, Erich Arnesens Hustr: ibid Marthe,
Marthe AsleD: Tangen, Guri Olsd Bornaaseje.Link.
In 1801 Joen Ellingsen was a cottager under the farm Bornaas. 1801-census.
I do not know the family, but it looks like Ragnild Jonsdatter Baarnaas got married to
Erik Torgersen 11.Apr.1816. Page 397.
Bornaas/Barnaas/Baarnaas was a name we used in older times.
Today the farm is usually written Bårnås. Click at the map, and you find it.

Hello Marv
Ellef, beat me, and he is much more experienced genealogist than me.
Baarnaas ( Bårnås to days writing) is neighbourfarm to Gardhammer, which you do know.
But I cannot find Vesbye and today there's no place in this area with such a name.

Same here. I have never heard about a place called Vesbye.Else Marie Abelgård skrev:But I cannot find Vesbye
When a girl named Sidsel was baptized 25.Nov.1764, her father was written Ole Wesbye. Link.
Her parents got married 14.Aug.1763 as Ole Larsen Vesbye and Berit Knudsd. Link.
But -, when they got engaget 14.May 1763 Ole is named Ole Larsen Svartaas.
Svartaas was at that time a place under Narverud. In a Tax-list from 1762 we find Ole Larsen as a cottager under Narverud.
And a girl Berthe Knudsdatter served at the same farm.
But -, Vesbye is still unknowned.
Link. to the engagement 14.May 1763.

In the Census 1801 was there a farm/place called Westby in Eger (Eiker).

«Mange tusen takk» for all he information regarding Ragnild Joensdatter and her ancestry. All of you are great with your search the records and finding out stuff I did not know. If you have time and can continue to "push back the curtains of time" I would appreciate any additional information. And to Else Marie, it was good to hear from you again.

Re: Ragnild Joensdtr Biørnås (f. 1794), Lunder, Bukerud
Again, thank you for your assistance in finding information about my ancestors. Based on the information you all have provided, I have constructed the following:
Ragnild Joensdatter was born on Bårnås and was christened (døpt) at Lunder Annex, Norderhov P:g on 29 May 1794. Her parents were Joen Ellingsen Bårnås and Sissel (Sidsel) Olsdatter Vesbye. Ragnild had siblings as follows:
Elling, christened 12 Sep 1790; died Jan 1791
Berit, christened 19 Mar 1797
Ole, christened 8 Feb 1801
Elling, christened 13 May 1804; died before 1807
Elling, christened 2 Nov 1806
There may be more children, but these are the only ones I could find in the church records.
Further, I believe that the first Elling was illegitimate. Joen and Sissel were engaged on 26 Sep 1790 (after the birth of their son) and married 2 Jan 1791. Regarding the father, Joen Ellingsen, I am finding references to a farm called “Øuvre” – or at least that is how I read the handwriting!
Now, for Sissel Olsdatter, it appears that it … her father was Ole Larsen; her mother was Berit (Berthe) Knudsdatter; sand he was born on a farm called "Vesbye" and christened 25 Nov 1764 at Lunder. Further, it has been found that Ole was a "cotter" in 1762 under Narverud and there was an un-married girl, Berthe Knudsdatter who was also working at Narverud. When Ole and Berthe were engaged, he is using the name “Ole Larsen Svartaas” but when they married it was “Ole Larsen Vesbye.”
Finally, Else Marie Abelgård suggests that Ole Larsen had been married previously … to a woman named Guri Halstensdatter. It was recorded on 18 Jul 1762 that Ole (Larsen) Vesbye and Guri Halstensdtr. had a son, Lars, christened at Lunder. Apparently, Guri Halstensdtr. was buried the same day at “40 år gl.”
If I have interpreted your combined messages correctly, please let me know. Also, how can I find out more about Joen Ellingsen? I believe his parents were Elling Olsen and Ragnild Eriksdatter. And once gain, «Mange Tusen Takk» and have a Blessed Easter!

Blessed Easter to you also. This Saturday morning is wonderful so I want to go out skiing.
So far as I can see I find your summary correct, but I don't think we know enough.
Joen Ellingsen, Ouvre and the girl Sidsel Olsd. were " copulert" the second Sunday 1791.
Christened 12/ 2 1763 Jon father Elling Jonsen, Syversløkkenand mother Johanne Halvorsdaughter
sponsors I cannot read them so far.
Trolovet:7/6 1761 married 6/9 1761 Elling Jonsen/ Johanne Halvorsdaughter.
Christened 18/5 1760 Anne (u): married man Ole Larsen,Westby and Widow Ragnil Olsdaughter, Sletager, Solia when she is ab
Christened 23/3 1760 Guri: Ole Larsen Vestby og Guri Halstensd.
Christened 9/10 1757 Elling (u) Elling Jonsen, grubedreng, and Anne Christendaughter.
( Sognedalens Ironwork; a small ironindustry started on the farm Berg, made some nice cast iron ovens. The industry was broke in 1805. grubedreng -iron worker. )
New years day 1791 had Knud Gillerdalen and Guri Halgrimsdaughter their daughter Raghnild christened.Sponsors Engelbert Tostensen, Joen Halgrimsen, Gundbjør and Mari Gundersdaughter, Kirsti Joensdaughter.
Same day copulert: Joen Ellingsen and Sidsel Olsdaughter.
I bring this christening in, because Gillerdalen, Langvandsbråten and Bergsrud are farms close to one of the two Ouvre farms at Sokna, and in the western part close to the border of Krødsherred.
I have also seen 1797 confirmed: Joen Ellingsen, Baarnaas, age 17. Else Marie

Else Marie:
Are you suggesting that Jo(e)n Ellingsen's father was Elling Jonsen, Syversløkken and his mother Johanne Halvorsdatter and was christened on 12/2 1763?
I was of the opinion that Jo(e)n Ellingsen was christened 19 Feb 1769 and that his parents were Elling Olsen, Biørnås and Ragnild Eriksdatter.
Is it possible thatthere are two Joen Ellingsens living in Lunder at about the same time?
Again, thank you for taking the time to help me.

The 1801-census tells that Joen Ellingsen Bornaas was born 1768.
(His age 34 = he was in his 34th year = he was 33).
But -, censuses are full of mistakes.
If we find when Joen Ellingsen died, we would have better control at his age.
Joen christened 19.febr.1769 had a mother named Ragnild:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-191
Looks like Joens oldest daugther Ragnild, born 1794, was named after her fathers mother.

In church records ( kronologisk) says Joen Ellingsen was chr. 19.02 1769 at Biornerud Father Elling Olsen and mother Ragnil Fricksdaughter.
Jons sponsors can be ? Arnesen, Colbiorn ?, Jonn Tronsen, Barbra and Aase Olsd.
Elling and Ragnil christened a daughter 31.05 1772, named Ingeborg. Then they stayed in a Hovlandseie.
The other Jon Ellingsen was born 13.02 1763, sponsors: Mikkel Jonsen ( Thorsen), Niels Jacobsen, Gulbrand Olsen, Mria Pedersd and Dorte Haraldsd.
Parents Elling Jonsen Syversløkkeand Johanne Halvorsd. they were "trolovet 07.06 and married 06.09 1761 children: Halvor 12.02 1764, Jonas 1766, Rasmus 1768 and Ellina 1770.
Elling Jonsen is buried 24.06 1770. He was then 30 years. He had died in the forest during the winter.
His widow Johanne married again 1.11. 1777 with Erik Kjelsen, Verket.
All above I have found in a copy of church records and haven't checked all, with the original

In a transcribed Tax-list from 1762, I found one Elling Olsen as a cottager under the farm Oppegaarden. Ragnild (none last name) was his wife. The tax-list from 1762 only includes persons older than 12 years.

Hello again
I believe I have solved the name Westbye.
In 1763 Ole Larsen Svartaas were engaged ( trolovet) to Berte Knudsdaughter.
Their home when they married, was Westbye.
Church record says: 14.of May 1763 died Lars Siversen, Walders; 70 years old.
The owner of Østre Narverud, Knut Lerfaldet, wrote in 1970: "There was a tenant farm on Narverud, close to todays main road, that was called Walders, because there should have been living a tenant farmer from Valdres in the eighteenth century."
