I didn't need to download the PCC will of Ralph Worsley. Google books have it on page 16 of Lancashire and
Cheshire Wills:

http://books.google.com/books?id=U8E4AA ... hire+wills

From Note 1, he was the third son of William Worsley of Worsley Maynes, near Wigan, by Anne, daughter of Adam
Birkenhead of Huxley, co. Cest., married Jane, daughter of John Pike Esq..

He is given a death date of 27th December 1573, aged 80 years and upwards, was buried at St. Mary's Church,
Chester - Ormerod, vol. i. p. 168, and vol. ii, p. 256.

Unfortunately, the online Cheshire Parish Register Database, which includes St. Mary's Church, Chester, the
burial registers don't seem to have survived for that date.

The third daughter Avice married secondly Humphrey Davenport !

I'm really hoping you can find evidence that this is *that* Sir
Humphrey Davenport, Knt of Sutton, Cheshire, Chief Baron of the
Exchequer.

This Humphrey by his wife Mary Sutton, had a daughter Penelope
Davenport bap 17 May 1603 (by IGI Patron Sheets FWIW) who married into
the Cecil line by marrying Sir Cecil Trafford, Knt (knighted in 1618),
grandson of the Earl of Exeter.

By descent this Humphrey was of those Davenports of Bromhall and has
several seperate royal ascents.

Thanks Yvonne. From your extract it would appear as if it were Adam
Birkenhead who marrid Jane Pike. But reviewing the book page 16
direct lazy link here

Jane Pike is actually the wife of William Worsley. You should have
continued the extract because it states that he had three daughters,
he names them in his will Alice, Katherine, and Avis. The second one,
married secondly to Edward Legh, brother of Sir Peter Legh of Lyme.

And suddenly I sit up.

I have six or seven people of that name and would be interested in
finding some more sources to indicate more about the life of both
Edward Legh and Katherine, including *which* Sir Peter Legh of Lyme
was his brother. I tried to place him here and there, but the
chronology isn't good. I suspect there was a later Sir Peter Legh of
Lyme than what I have. Do you have a history of the Manor of Lyme ?

I expect that we could find some abstracts in A2A if we could narrow
this down a bit.
