Census lookup

Legg inn av clifto » 14. desember 2007 kl. 18.35

I found a census page at the library and didn't take enough notes to find
it once I got home. I'd like enough information to find it on HQ, which
I think is indexed by NARA information.

The one I found was in the 1910 census but if you find other info by name,
please feel free to mention. :)

George Teutsch, wife Marie and daughter Louise. SD1, ED73, sheet 20A,
Orleans "county" Louisiana. The number 3651 appears, handwritten, near the
other page/district information. The address is 925 Dauphine St. (rear).

HQ gives only two Teutsch families for Orleans parish in 1910 and neither
is the one, so it's probably misindexed there.

Year: 1910; Census Place: New Orleans Ward 5, Orleans, Louisiana;
Roll: T624_521; Page: 20A; Enumeration District: 73

There's another daughter, Corena, aged 9. Ancestry gives an alternate
name/spelling as Tentsch.

The New Orleans, Louisiana Birth Records database at Ancestry has the
following birth:

Given: Marie Louise
Surname: Teutsch
Father: George
Mother: Marie Antoinette Lavergne
Sex: F
Color: W
Birth Date: 24 May 1898
Volume: 113
Page: 593

The marriage records database for Louisiana also has that George
Teutsch, Jr. married Marie Lavergne on January 25, 1893 in Orleans County.

Unfortunately, the 1910 census is the only result for George Teutsch
(done as exact and soundex).

Hope that helps,
Cathy

Thanks! I believe that daughter Louisa is my grandmother. Marie Louise.

I found George with his parents and siblings in the 1880 Federal Census

(but still haven't found George elsewhere yet):
Year: 1880; Census Place: New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana; Roll: T9_458;
Family History Film: 1254458; Page: 14.4000; Enumeration District: 1

Birth records for George's siblings indicate that their mother's maiden
name was Theresia Stritzinger. The 1880 Census shows George, Theresa
and children George, Johanna and Barbara. The birth records show
additional children Martin (born 1873), August (born 1866) and Ottilie
(born 1872).

By 1900, Theresa is a widow and living with Johanna and Johanna's husband:
Year: 1900; Census Place: New Orleans Ward 8, Orleans, Louisiana;
Roll: T623 573; Page: 4A; Enumeration District: 77

There's a ton of information for Orleans parish on their GenWeb archive
site (http://www.lagenweb.org/) - birth, marriage and death indexes...A
Theresa Teutsch, aged 58, died in 1901.

Marie Antoinette Lavergne Teutsch died July 9, 1918, aged 50.

I didn't see a listing for the elder George Teutsch, but might have
missed it.
