Passenger List Lookup Request

Legg inn av ChrisGW » 10. desember 2007 kl. 18.15

I am trying to find Wilkenshoff 1839, 1845, 1847 and 1854 from Glane Germany.
They may be listed as being from Hanover or Lower Saxony. I do not know their
port of departure, but most likely arrived New York or New Jersey

I found them in the Osnabrueck State Archives which has them leaving these
years. But have not been able to find what ships they left on or port. The one
Wilkenshoff is listed as leaving "without consent".

I have already checked Ancestry.com with not luck. I was hoping someone has
other resources.

Thank you for your help.

He was 32 years old

was conscription in force in Osnabruck?

I only know the danish laws
but if similar to that you had to register your comings and goings with
police or village priest with an internal passport if working class

"Osnabrück is the cultural centre of the western part of Lower Saxony
and the vital centre of an economic region with around 780,000
inhabitants, which includes not only Lower Saxony but also parts of
North Rhine-Westphalia." I don't know much about german states other
than that they wer independant before Bismark created a federation undr
Prussia

I visted the town several times 1959 to 1965 as a bandsman in the
British Army and liked it very much

they could have signed on as crew and jumped ship
