What is "the Gen. Quarterly"?

What is "the Gen. Quarterly"?
I'm looking at some notes from another researcher, and they indicate some
interesting information is in "the Gen. Quarterly Sept. 1936". Any ideas
what periodical she was referring to?
Thanks!

Re: What is "the Gen. Quarterly"?
I wondered that too, I did a Google search before posting ... but it could
also be "xyz County Genealogical Society Quarterly" and then I'm totally
hosed.
The thing is, this researcher was generally pretty careful (from other
research of hers I've read) so I am thinking that if she wrote "Gen.
Quarterly" it's because it was so incredibly obvious which one she was
referring to. Of course it's not obvious to me (grin)!
I think the family being discussed was living in New Jersey, so I'm leaning
towards the Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey - which was published back
then, and which came out quarterly ...

My first thought was the National Genealogical Society Quarterly which has
been in publication since 1912, and which is a publication that anyone
(presumably) would recognize immediately.

Re: What is "the Gen. Quarterly"?
Hum ... Ancestry doesn't have very good search ability into PERSI, but even
just searching on surname (the person I'm investigating is Elias Coryell,
the article looks to be titled "Runyon Genealogy" by O. B. Leonard) I didn't
find it.
Thanks for the idea though!

A search of Heritage Quest Persi reveals the National Genealogical Society
Quarterly, and each volume is searchable.

Re: What is "the Gen. Quarterly"?
By the way, are there any non-regional genealogy magazines being published
today? I know the availability of county gen journals, etc., but I'm
wondering about a general mag pertaining to US genealogy research.
Thanks----
Donna
P.S. I have a family history research service online but am getting few
clients. Would there be someone willing to take a look at the online ad and
tell me what I am doing wrong? If so, please e-mail me at
[email protected] and I'll give the you the URL. I am not attempting to
advertise on the list, but rather a requesting constructive criticism, and I
hope my question is not out of order.

However, if you are searching a Coryell of "ferry" fame, check the
Bucks County or Pennsylvania Gen. Societies, maybe even Hunterdon, NJ.
