Decendents of Ole Ingrebritsen Falstad in the USA

Legg inn av gj05871 » 23. november 2007 kl. 1.33

Hello, my name is Rick Falstad. I believe I am the great grandson of Ole Ingrebrigtsen Falstad (B: NOV 1, 1854 near Ekne, Norway), who was the son of Ingrebrigt (Pedersen?) Falstad and Bergitta Sorensdatter. I found them in the 1865 census, living at the Gotass farm in Skogn, Norway. Ole immigrated to the United States in 1874 from Trondhiem on the H.L. Dahl. I have the complete family history in the U.S.A. if anyone is interested. Please let me know if you have any additional information - I speak only English. Thanks.

Regards,
Rick Falstad

Hi Rick

Ole’s christening (no.6, 31/12-1854): http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... x_side=-10
Ole’s confirmation (no.16, 2/10-1870):
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-155
Ole’s emigration (no.26 right hand side, June 1874):
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-308

Ole was born at the farm Nedre Falstad in Ekne. (”Nedre” means ”Lower”. There are two Falstad farms in Ekne; Øvre- (Upper) and Nedre- (Lower) Falstad). His mother Inger Bergithe was from the Gotaas-farm in the neighbour community Ronglan. There were some intermarriage between Nedre Falstad and Gotaas.

Here are some info from two books, Skogn Historie vol.VIII and XI, regarding your ancestors at Nedre Falstad and Gotaas:

First Nedre Falstad:
1) Ingebrigt Ellingsen Falstad (1760-1821) m.1783 to 2) Brynhild Simonsdtr. (1766-1814).
Children: 3) Elling (1783-1801), 4) Simon (1786), 5) Erik (1788-1801), 6) Ragnhild (1790).

6) Ragnhild Ingebrigtsdtr. m.1814 to widower 7) Peder Olsen Jøraas (1767-1840).
Children: 8) Ingebrigt (1816-1816), 9) Peder Olaus (1819-1821), 10) Ingebrigt (1821), 11) Karen Cesilie (1822).

Then Gotaas:
12) Butolf Andersen Hopla (1732-1818) m. to 13) Inger Hansdtr. Gotaas (1743-1824)
Children: 14) Marit (1766), 15) Anders (1768), 16) Hans (1775), 17) Marta (1776), 18) Ole (1779), 19) Søren (1782).

19) Søren Butolfsen Gotaas (1782-1831) m. to 20) Gjertrude Eriksdtr. Gryte (1796-)
Children: 21) Bonsak (1816), 22) Inger Bergitte (1817), 23) Martha (1819), 24) Erik Andreas (1822), 25) Hans (1824-1824), 26) Ole (1825), 27) Karen Oline (1828-1828), 28) Karen Oline (1830)

21) Bonsak Sørensen Gotaas (1816-) m.1844 to 11) Karen Cesilie Pedersdtr. Falstad (1822-)
Children: 29) Søren (1845), 30) Paul (1847), 31) Ragnhild (1850), 32) Gjertelie (1852), 33) Marie Elise (1854), 34) Oline (1856), 35) Karen Oline (1859), 36) Kasper Bernhard (1861), 37) Anthon Edvard (1863), 38) Halvdan (1866), 39) Christian (?), 40) Olaf (1868).

Finally, back to Nedre Falstad:
10) Ingebrigt Pedersen Falstad (1821-) m. to 22) Inger Bergitte Sørensdtr. Gotaas (1817-)
Children: 41) Peder (1842), 42) Søren Bertin (1845), 43) Richter (1848), 44) Johannes (1850), 45) Ole (1854)

As you can see, your great grandfather Ole’s (44) father Ingebrigt Falstad (10) is the older brother of Karen (11). Karen’s husband Bonsak Gotaas (21) is the older brother of Inger Bergitte (22), Ingebrigt’s (10) wife.

The following of these people emigrated: 23, 29, 38, 39, 40, 42, 45.

Regards
RD
