Programs for pedigree charts suitable for framing?
What genealogy programs have the best pedigree charts for framing? I would
really love to give some for gifts this year.
Thank you

You'd only be able to have a relatively small tree ('scuse the pun!),

The tree for just one of my lines measures some 12ft x 3ft so framing
wouldn't be an option. Goodness knows what size it would be if I
amalgamated all 14 lines that I'm doing at the moment.
Or are you thinking of one of those pre printed charts into which you
put the names? If so, there are a number of firms who do them but
they are in the UK so may not be a viable option if you aren't UK
based.

Re: Programs for pedigree charts suitable for framing?
Paf has a "companion"- prints in color - numerous layouts if
you purchase it, no superflous stuff like "printed by xxx "
take care

Re: Programs for pedigree charts suitable for framing?
Perhaps simplified - Names, birth year, death year, with a nice frame around
the individual names, possibility of adding a graphic in the background.
Only wanting 4-5 generations. Perhaps some scroll lines connecting the
boxes.
(the entire research prints out about 6 feet by 8 feet)
Thank you,

Re: Programs for pedigree charts suitable for framing?
I use TreeDraw Legacy and then get a printer with a plotter (such as a
printer who prints blue prints) print mine out. Very inexpensive that way.
I just e-mailed him a file attachment and went later to pick them up. I
have given these as gifts to my sons, and they are amazed and delighted at
how extensive our chart is. It is quite large!
I just did our chart on plain long and wide white paper because it was (and
is) such a work in progress. I'm not ready to get gilt edged charts yet! I
hope your chart turns out beautiful.
You can use a genealogy chart maker program and then send the file it makes
to a professional genealogy chart printer to get something really spiffy
done, I guess. (Not sure about how this works.)

Donna,
Is this an add-on to Legacy?
Thanks,

Yes, it is an add-on to Legacy. It is easy to learn to use.
It was pretty inexpensive at the time I bought it. On their site they had
another charting program, but for some reason I decided that one wasn't for
me. That was a few years and I can't remember why I made the decision,
but it was a good reason at the time. :-/ I also get the updates.
It's very easy to learn, and after you make the charts you can go into the
chart onscreen and edit.

Family Tree Super Tools can create a number of chart formats from a
GEDCOM file, so it's compatible with almost all genealogy programs (I
use Legacy). FTST allows you to preview the chart and make
adjustments (spacing, etc) before printing. I've used it for small
(letter-size page with 3 generations) and large charts (3ft x 27ft
with 1100 people - thanks to a friend with a large format plotter).
If you want "fancy" charts with background graphics and/or gilt edges,
look for online chart printing services that will put your chart on
various paper types.
