Printing out from programs

Legg inn av david » 26. juni 2006 kl. 13.25

Are there any programs (ideally free though I will pay if necessary)
which will print a family tree down the page instead of across?

Have looked at Legacy and Brothers Keeper but can't see how to print
you would draw on paper...

They do this sort of thing which I don't want...

This is horizontal but with ugly boxes...

The Master Genealogist prints a wide range of charts including the drop
charts you want.

Of the non-free applications, I think Genbox possibly has the most
comprehensive family tree charting functions.

I'm afraid I don't know of any free programs which produce diagrams as
you require.

TreeDraw is the most versatile program, being a specific charting
program rather than one which also stores your FH data. There are two
versions - one which ties in directly to Legacy and and one which will
read data from a Gedcom file.

Other programs with versatile charting options are Family Historian,
Root Magic, Family Tree Maker, Genbox and The Master Genealogist.

Heredis is the program you want.

Download free version, go to Family tree on file bar, go to descendant and
then to complete descendancy tree and then to indented descendant and there
you have what you want. The program accepts gedcoms.

Just one caveat - it's a Mac-only program
http://www.myheridis.com
Mac OS X version 10.1.3 or later
64 MB RAM
27 MB of free disk space

Hi,

Well something must have changed because I have it on my PC Microsoft XP.
The version Heredis is 7.2.1. I read that also about Mac but was puzzled.
They may have changed it but I have had it a long time and have had some
updates. It is one of my best programs for family trees. It has a wonderful
male lineage tree where you can start at the child and show the male line
with all siblings as far as the male line goes. But I guess it is no good if
you cannot load it on a PC.

A mystery.

Yes, things apparently have changed within the last few months.

I did download version 7.21 (English) in March, but the link at
http://www.myheredis.com/support_window ... eredis.com now tells you
that it is no longer available.

On the other hand, you can still download a French demo copy of version 8
for Win XP/2000/98 at
http://downloads.vnunet.com/download/ge ... 33212.html

Cheers,
