FTM 2006 - Detaching children of 2nd marriage from 1st marri
I need to know how to detach children born of the second marriage from the
1st marriage. FTM wants to list them as step children of the first mother
who was dead before they were even born. I tried several things with not
success. As there are several descendants of these children I can't afford
to just delete them and re-enter as they should be. I have no idea how they
attached to the first union.
Thanks for any help.

No problem: Go to "People", than to "Fix relationship". Follow instructions. Good Luck! John

and use the help menu
it is very very good with a knoledge base on line too
((even after 6 years with FTM
I was into the help menu today to check out how to make an ahnentaffel))
once you have detached the child select it and f
from the POeople meunu
open the Other Parents dialogue box
and check that the drop down menus are both set to Natural
this can cause problems in display of trees if you don't check these are
correct

Thanks for your thoughts we all have them but when I have ones like yours I
usually keep them to myself.
All programs have their good and bad points. I have tried several but am
most comfortable with what I started out with, FTM.

Thanks John. This worked today. For some reason the other night when I was
working on this and finally sent a request here for help the children were
being deleted in both marriages. Today it worked. Maybe I was working when
I should have been resting. Thanks again for your suggestions.

Hugh,
I did just that and they were natural in all arenas even before.
I find it strange that it deleted from the correct relationship when
deleted from the incorrect and today when I did the process it worked
correctly.
I was lucky that I could do a back space which seemed to negate the deletion
the other evening or I would have lost a lot of information.
