Jeg søker etter nålevende slektninger av Karl Johan Johansen i USA. Hans far var Johan Adam Lorentsen som bodde på gården Sandsvik i Malangen.

Sometimes you are more lucky than you expect. We was reading some papers after wife's aunt i Tromsoe a few weeks ago. In the papers we found a letter from 1940. It was written in Minneapolis April 7th. 1940 and posted 9:30 AM April 8th. Minneapolis (stamp are 5 cents). Return address was 2619-13 ave.so. Mpls. Minn. The letter was written of Carl Johnson to his mother Isarine Sandsvik, Mortenhals Tromsoe Norway. This mother is related to my wife who grow up in Mortenhals (Malangen) south of Troms.

The very special with the letter is that this was just after invasion of German troops in Norway in May 1940 and the letter are opened (geoeffnet) of the "Obercommandant Der Wehrmacht" The letter are written in Norwegian and tells among others that he had worked at the same place in 14 years.

We have no idea about this Carl Johnson, but it is very well documented where he lived. We are in Minnesota and North Dakota from July 1st. to July 16th. this summer. We are all together 12 Norwegian relatives coming to a reunion in my side of the family in Detroit Lake. If anyone could find some relatives in the area on my wife's side, we would be greatfull.

This Carl Johnson is born in 1890. His full name in Norway was Karl Johan Johansen. The father was Johan Adam Lorentsen. Carl is the oldest child from his second marriage with Isarene Sofie Johannesdotter. The youngest brother (no. 4) is Ingvald Olai born 1898. He also emigrated to USA. The chance he lived in neighbourhood of his brother is good.

There are also other relatives involved in this emigration. This is Alvhilde Jensen b 1889, married Murcer. Her husband was Bernice Murcer (236-44-8972) Vest Virginia. They have/had 6 children Elsie May (later married Murdock) Burton, Eugene; Betty born Aug. 10th.1931, Ellis and Conrad.

The oldest daughter has two children Paul Murdock and Elisabeth Serina. Betty (born Aug. 10th.1931) has two children Serena b. 23th. June 1953 and David 29th. Jan. 1956. We don't know there last name. The last address of Alvhilde Jensen Murcer is Box. 54 Northfolk VA.

I found out later that Elsie Murdock is born 4th. dec. 1927 and died March 2000 (Social security no. 023-22-5403) Massachusetts. She is probably at 02019 Bellingham, Norfolk, Massachusetts
