Hi Marcia
..aq files usually come from Ancestral Quest - a still active product
that is able to produce GEDCOMs. There is probably a free demo to
download. If that is so, then maybe the data can be absorbed, then spat
out in GEDCOM for FTM to have its wicked way? Sounds a bit round-about,
but hey...!
If the file did come from HFT, there will also be a free download/demo.
I find that many demo versions are limited in how many entries you can
type in, but don't restrict how many bodies you can import from another
app!
IIRC, PAF derived from an earlier version of AQ. And there was an
intermediate utility to convert later files of AQ to PAF? My lousy
memory...help

Hello
I've been sent a file with the extension 'aq' which the sender says was
created with Heritage Family Tree.
She says this program has no facility to create a gedcom file!!
I use FTM. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get this aq file
type into an FTM database.
I think PAF format may be compatible with it (and I think PAF may have a
gedcom option?) so if there are any PAF users out there who'd like to
have a go at converting it I'd be interested to hear from them.
The file is 242 KB.
