A "faster" is his father's sister.

A "moster" is the mother's sister.

They are both a "tante" = aunt

You may have browsed the wrong dictionary! I don't know if the words have their origin in Sweden, but at least they are in common use there.

No, there is no link to Sweden in those words. Faster and moster, the male equivalents being farbror and morbror, were commonly used words in Norway a couple of generations ago. Those words are still used in some places in Norway even today.
