FUNERAL OF THE LATE THOMAS BARRIE HERE SATURDAY
Death From Heart Failure Occurred on Tuesday News has been received in the city telling of the death of Thomas C. Barrie, who died at his home in Bellevue, Tuesday evening. Death was due to heart failure. The deceased is survived by his widow and one son; one sister and five brothers, together with nine grandchildren. The remains will arrive in the city today and the funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon at two o’clock from the home of the decedent’s brother, Jacob C. Barrie, 827 North Ninth street. Rev. Espeseth will officiate and interment will be at Evergreen cemetery. Many friends of the family here will be pained to hear of Mr. Barrie’s demise. He was well and favorably known. ATTENDS CHURCH IN THE MORING, PASSES AWAY IN EVENING
Death of Jacob Barrie, Well Known Resident is Sudden and Unexpected Sudden and unexpected was the death of Jacob C. Barrie, well known resident of the city and one of the oldest employees of the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Co., who passed away at his home on N. Ninth street at 6 o’clock Sunday evening after a short illness due to acute indigestion. Mr. Barrie had been at his work Saturday and yesterday morning attended serviced at the Presbyterian church of which he was a member. He appeared in his usual health and spirits. During the afternoon while friends were calling Mr. Barrie stepped to the porch for a few seconds, and when he returned to the room was forced to rest on the couch, complaining of illness. A physician was summoned and though Mr. Barrie was unconscious, he revived soon and was apparently improving when he suffered another collapse and shortly after he passed away. Mr. Barrie realized that the end was near and left messages for his absent children.
Mr. Barrie was born in Norway, May 22, 1847 and at early age followed the seas, sailing the ocean up to the time he was 20, when he came to the Great Lakes. He continued to sail until 1900 when he retired and entered employ of the Shipbuilding Co. and was foreman of the caulking department at his death. He was married in 1874 to Jennie Michelson who preceded him in death January 7, 1918. Three sons survive Mr. Barrie, Walter of Los Angeles, Arthur Thomas and Clyde David of this city. Deceased was a member of the Royal Arcanum and an active member of the Presbyterian church. Funeral arrangements have not been made pending word from his son in Los Angeles. Jeg fant også litt om Ingebortius Clausen Burø som var gift Skåtøy KB 20 Jan 1881 med Nicoline Larsdatter Ødegaard, f 20 Apr 1856, Sannidal. Han reiste ut før kone og barn, døde i Brooklyn, New York. De er utmeldt av statskirken i KB Skåtøy 24 Aug 1885. Inga Laurense ble født 18 Jul 1883, Skåtøy.
