I am looking for information on John Larsen Løvlien, born in 1810 in Baerums Vaerk, Asker Parish, Akershus, Norway in 1810, and lived in Kongsberg, including in 1840 when he lived on Ekermogaden Street. He immigrated to Madison, Wisconsin USA in 1868 with his wife. He married Berthe Katherine Andreasdatter, who was born Nov 15, 1812 in Kongsberg. She died in 1896 in Madison, WI.
My big question is where is Løvlien? John Larsen's last name is listed as Lovlien in the 1865 census. Is it located in Akserhus, Buskerud, or somewhere else. I figure if I can find the Bygdebok, I can find this information.

The information I have is Berthe Andreasdatter is the daughter of Anders Haagensen.

i am not sure but i googled the place and visited a few web sites and came up with LØVLIEN, in Oyer, Oppland County, Norway.

Michael: I can't find any John Larsen Løvlien among the baptized in Asker (Bærum) in the years 1808, 1809 nor 1810.

Could you please give us a link to the parish register where you have found his baptism

Over the years, the spelling of farm names etc. have changed. It is possible that Løvlien now is called Løvlia, Lauvlia or Laulia or something similar.

It is possible to use the site ngis2.statkart.no/norgesglasset/default.html to search for names. You may chose English lead text when searching for place names.

He is probably baptized 'Johannes' in 1810 (right hand page):

His father was Lars Gundersen from Kongsberg.

Løvlien could be Løvlia in Krokskogen near Bærums Verk.

Can see there is also a Løvlien in Fiskum, Øvre Eiker - which is quite close to Kongsberg.
