Marthe Olsdatter married 24 Feb 1819 in Fluberg

Hello,

I am looking for Marthe Olsdatter's birth record showing her parents, date of birth and baptism date. The only informaiton I have of her is her marriage to Johan Tomasen and the birth records of four of their children - all I believe were born on Krohnborgeie.

I have tried to find Marthe Olsdatter in the 1801 census but I cannot find any records to identify which Marthe Olsdatter is my ancestor. My best guess is that Marthe Olsdatter on Winger (#160, Kinds annex) in the 1801 census may be the right person as the parents of this person were Ole and Anne - the same names as two of Marthe Olsdatte's children.

Any assistance or guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

A simple step might be to try familysearch.org, it might narrow it down for you. If you're lucky, you'll find just what you were searching for (then you have to look it up in the church book to verify, the church book will most likely have more datailed information as well).

I did a search for Marthe Olsdatter born abt. 1795-1796 in Oppland for you and I got a few, but only one for Søndre Land:

Yes, I had found Johan and his family in the 1801 census on Krohnborg. I am also familair with FamilySearch and had looked for Marthe Olsdatter there without any luck.

Thank you for the suggestion and the link to the parish record for the Marthe born in 1795 in Søndre Land. I am not sure how to connect this person to my ancestor Marthe Olsdatter.

The parents are Ole and Anne. Marthe and Johan named their 2nd son Ole and 1st daughter Anne Maria. Johan's mother's name was Mari.

Another way to go about it can be to write down the "sponsors" (is that the right word?) from each of the childrens' christenings, and compare with possible neighbors and family from the censuses, also with their grandchildrens' christenings...

Anyways, it can be pretty difficult to find the right one. At this time with relatively limited communication and seclusion between societies - names could be a trend for generations.
