Jacob Knudsen baptized 1772

Jacob Knudsen was baptized 13 December 1772 at Dovre. He was illegitimate. His father, Knud Jacobsen, was of Klukstad and his mother was Gunild Iversdatter: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 470431.jpg His parents were married 26 June 1774 at Dovre: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 470441.jpg They had a daughter, Ann, baptized 17 July 1774 at Dovre: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 470442.jpg They had another son, Iver, baptized on 23 April 1780 at Dovre as well: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 470521.jpg After 1780, I do not know what happens to this family. They are not listed in the 1801 census for Lesja. In fact, I cannot locate any member of the family in the 1801 census for all of Norway. No member of this family is listed as dying or being buried in Lesja through 1819. If anyone has any information regarding this family, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Lawrence!

The bygdebok for Lesja published in 1996, states that none of the children were confirmed at Lesja, and that most likely the family left the area.

It also states that they had a daughter Gunild, both born and dead in 1779.

When it comes to Iver, it says that this might be him in the 1801 census:

The bygdebok says that Iver might have a daughter, Marit, born 1796 and confirmed 1812.

Apart from that, nothing else is known about the family. I also see that research done on the family, and registered on Geni.com, does not have any information on the family apart from their birthdates.

Mvh Bente

I am not able to locate Jacob Knudsen until 1804 when he marries his wife, Kari Erichsdatter, in Stange, Hedmark, in 1804: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 130194.jpg They also have a daughter, Marthe, in 1804: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 130137.jpg
Their next child, Karen, is born strangely enough when he and his wife are traveling through Bolsøy, Møre og Romsdal in 1805: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 630145.jpg After this, Jacob Knudsen and Kari Erichsdatter return to Stange where they have several more children. Each child dies at birth and his wife, Kari Erichsdatter, dies in Stange in 1812. After this date, I do not know what becomes of Jacob Knudsen either in Stange, Dovre, or anywhere else. He just seems to vanish. His daughter, however, Karen Jacobsdatter, returnd to her father's native parish- Dovre. She first appears in Dovre in 1825, when she is confirmed: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 610882.jpg She's number 31 on page 517. I do not know who she lives with in Dovre. Perhaps she lives with relatives? She marries Ole Olsen of Elven in 1828:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 610843.jpg Ole Olsen and Kari Jacobsdatter had a daughter, Anne Olsdatter, my great-great-grandmother, in 1828, a son Ole in 1830, who died at ten days old, and another son, Ole in 1832. In 1835, they emigrated to Rennebu, Sør-Trøndelag. I am hopeful that this additional information may help to answer my question: Where did Jacob Knudsen and his family go after 1780? Also, what happened to Jacob Knudsen after his wife died in Stange in 1812? I do not believe he returned to Dovre. Any information regarding this family would be greatly appreciated.
